The objective of this conference is to provide participants with an overview of current cancer prevention and control projects taking place in North Dakota as well as providing relevant continuing education topics. Continuing education will include introducing a bill and the legislative process, how to write and create meaningful surveys for program evaluation, how to effectively communicate health messages with your target audience using various forms of media, and introducing evidence based interventions. Planning for a cancer-free future.

Conference Agenda Morning Session Tuesday, May 20 (CST) 7:45-8:30 a.m. Registration and displays 8:30-9:50 a.m. Opening & prayer NDCC Business Meeting 9:50-10:10 a.m. 1st Subcontract presentation 10:10-10:25a.m. Snack and Displays 10:25-11:05 a.m. 2nd and 3rd Subcontract presentations 11:05-12:30 p.m. Workgroups meet 12:30-1:30 p.m. Lunch (on-site) and displays Afternoon Session 1:30-2:30 p.m. Breakout Session 1 North Dakota Legislative Process Evidence Based Interventions Using Social Media to Communicate Health Messages Writing Surveys for Program Evaluation 2:30-2:45 p.m. Break 2:45-3:45 p.m. Breakout Session 2 Session 1 presentations repeated Participants should attend two different presentations 3:45-4:10 p.m. 4th Subcontract presentation 4:10-4:30 p.m. Evaluation and Closing Approval of contact hours is pending with the North Dakota Board of Nursing.

Registration Information Registration fee for this conference for NDCC members is $10; non-members is $15 payable to: North Dakota Cancer Coalition. Mail completed registration form & check by May 2nd to: 600E Boulevard Ave., Dept 301 Attn: Janna Pastir Bismarck, ND 58505-0200 Email questions to: ndcc@nd.gov Hotel Information A block of rooms, at state rates, have been reserved at the following hotel: Days Inn Bismarck 1300 E Capitol Avenue Bismarck, ND 58501 (701) 223-9151 You are responsible for making your own hotel reservations. Hotel reservations for those who plan to attend the meeting and would like to reserve a room from the block of hotel rooms, will need to be made prior to April 19th. There are only 20 rooms available in the block for the night of May 19th, and will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Please indicate that your room request is from the North Dakota Cancer Coalition block or block code NDC001. (There is a Williston Basin Conference in town at the same time and there are no other hotel rooms available at state rate). Participants staying at other hotels in the area will only be reimbursed up to the state-rate if travel assistance is approved. There are double rooms available if any members choose to share with another person they know, this is an option to save some funds designated for the annual meeting and allow for more people to take advantage of the state rate hotel rooms. Please indicate on the registration form if travel assistance is needed. A scholarship request form will be emailed to the address provided on the registration form. Cancellations If your plans change and you are unable to attend the conference, please e-mail ndcc@nd.gov no later than May 7, 2014. The North Dakota Cancer Coalition will be unable to refund conference fees in the event of a cancellation.
