ADULT SUPPORT TEAM
Douglas County Young Life Adult Support Team What is the Young Life Adult Support Team? As a vital part of Young Life s ministry to middle school, high school, college-aged kids and kids with disabilities in Douglas County, the Support Team s purpose is to: Encourage, pray for, and work in close partnership with area staff volunteer leaders as they carry out ministry with kids. Organize a strong financial foundation for sustaining local work with kids. The Challenge: While Young Life in Lawrence impacts hundreds of kids and families weekly through Capernaum, Wyldlife, Young Life College and its high school ministry there has been a perpetual lack of community ownership over the last 17 years. As a result: Adults appreciate the impact on kids, but know little about the ministry and don t know how to become engaged in a healthy and helpful way. Douglas County Young Life has struggled financially. It is the single biggest challenge, year-after-year. Although the budget is not astronomical, staff and leaders are hamstrung and burdened by the lack of financial support from the community.
Our Objective Our objective is to recruit, train, and deploy six volunteer vice presidents and six teams who will each oversee a specific department with a singular mission: 1.Taking Donors Seriously 2.Parent Involvement 3.Nuts and Bolts 4.Fundraising Events 5.Public Relations 6. Finance Benefits Douglas County Young Life Adult Support Team Increased support will help staff to feel less burdened, lonely and overwhelmed by trying to fundraise in addition to sustaining four Young Life ministries. People who are passionate about sustaining the Young Life financially will be released to utilize their Godgiven gifts. Leader care will blossom beyond food for leader parties and retreats. Members of the vision-driven team will feel loved and needed because they know their specific role. Adults will talk about Young Life wherever they go because they believe in and are committed to the vision.
