The Northside Snowmobile Club board is back hard at work to get our club activities and trails ready for another great snowmobile season. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again out on the trail and at the social events. We just had our second board meeting and Kim is planning some great activities again this year. Check out the events calendar for dates. Probably the most important thing we do this time of year is to make sure we have land for riding. Larry always heads this up and makes sure we are always set to go for the season. We greatly appreciate all our land owners as without your participation we could not be what we are. We have no big changes planned for the trail system. You can keep posted on all the Northside news by watching for the news letter or on Facebook to see what s new. As always anyone is welcome to attend any board meeting. They are generally on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm but the place changes from month to month so give me a call or email and I will let you know where the meeting will be held. Thanks for making last year such a great year. Looking forward to another fun year as your President. Terry Eisen On the web! Trail Maintenance Hello all and welcome back to another year!! So I have changed roles this year from Secretary to Trail Maintenance, so with that being said, I hope to see all of you in the upcoming work days we will be having, getting trails cleaned up and signed for the season. First of all, we have a few sections that need to be brush hogged this year. If there is anyone that has a small brush hog and tractor that would be willing to help please give me a call. We also have some sections that have been logged off so any one that might be willing to move a little brush or likes running a saw those days of helping will be here soon!! For the first trail cleaning activity we are planning to meet at the big red barn on the west of East Ave. just South of St. Mary s Lake Road on November 7 th and 8 th at 9:00 a.m. If we need more days to clean and sign trails we will decide that at a later date. You can bring anything that you feel might be beneficial on these days for cleaning and signing. If you have any questions feel free to get a hold of me anyway that works best for you Shirts and Hats Contact Adams Shirt Shack at: 100 Beadle Lake Rd Battle Creek, MI 49014 269-964-3323 1-877-666-3734 E-mail: Adams-shirt-shack@comcast.net Thank You TJ Milleson Do not use driveway! Membership Well we are off to another year of great fun. Remember to get those early bird memberships in before Dec 1 st! There is a minor change to the membership application for this year. The MSA 1 year membership has increased to $23.00 from $20.00. Also check the box if you would like to get the newsletter by email and/or Facebook. Lets hope they are wrong about the strong EL Nino and we receive a lot of snow. Thank you Adam Kline Safety There will be a snowmobile/orv safety class September 26th and 27th. The class will be held at the Marshall Public Service Building 900 South Marshall Street in Marshall { by the railroad tracks } and run from 9:00 to 2:00 each day. There is no cost for this class, just bring a highlighter and lunch. Students need to be age 12 or over this upcoming winter. Students will receive a safety certificate allowing them to operate their own snowmobile on land not owned by them/parents. Please call the Calhoun County Sheriffs Office at 269-781-0880 to register during business hours. This maybe the only class this season put on by the County. Students can take the course on line at the Michigan DNR website if they miss the class, however there is a 30.00 dollar charge once the student gets a passing grade. Thanks, Greg Stanley 13000 15 Mile Road Marshall, Michigan 49068 Page 3

Land Acquisition Hello Northside members Tired of the hot summer and the record rainfall? Winter is coming and if the precipitation persists think of all the white stuff to play in! Be ready, rejoin your club, and pitch in to get the trails ready. As land acquisition committee my responsibility is to contact 40 plus land owners and acquire permission for using the designated trail right-of-ways we have used for 45 years. Every year some changes are necessary like new houses built in the middle of the trail. I encourage the membership to get involved with work crews and help get ready. It is fun to work as a team and a trip to Barney s is fun too!
