INNER WHEEL CLUB OF INVERCARGILL NORTH March 2019 President: Annette Little 217 5320 Vice President: Vacant Treasurer: Monica McAllister 215 4399 Secretary: Carole King 217 5188 Bulletin Editor: Fiona Dunlop (03) 206 6866 Welfare: Margaret Weir 217-5236 or 027 284 2101 From President Annette Greetings Ladies With our Past Presidents meeting almost upon us, I would encourage as many as possible to attend. Past President Jo Williamson has organised a fun night at Repertory House for us all to enjoy. The evening will begin with bubbles and nibbles and with Dorothy Hart Brown as guest speaker, I know we will be in for a lot of fun. At our February Meeting we were delighted to have Craig Smith the Chairman of the Southland Medical Foundation come along and speak to us. Many of the club were unaware of the tremendous good that this foundation does in the Southland area, and it was lovely to hear so many questions being asked of him. The club donated $1000 to this worthwhile area of medical research, and in so doing have become lifetime members of the Foundation. It was so nice to be able to induct two new members into our club and we warmly welcomed Nazma Khan and Jackie Woodward during the evening. We also celebrated Alva Faul s 90 th Birthday what a highlight that was! Our club and international voting took place and members were encouraged to attend the District Rose Day Meeting now to be held on Saturday 30 March at Waimate. Please give some thought to coming to this. We currently have four of our ladies attending, and it is not too late to put your hand up?
A reminder to the attendees. Should any of you wish to view the Agenda, the proposals and General Motion s booklet please see Secretary Carole. I look forward to seeing as many of you as are able to attend on Monday evening at Repertory House. Yours in Inner Wheel Friendship Annette Little WHAT S ON IN MARCH March Meeting is the Past Presidents Meeting Monday 11 March 7.30pm Details below

It is calming, soothing, and cleansing, and inspires truth, trust and letting go. It was also considered a stone of eternal youth and happiness. Aquamarine was believed to be the treasure of mermaids, and was used by sailors as a talisman of good luck, fearlessness and protection. The soothing energy of Aquamarine makes it a perfect companion to calm fears and phobias. Aquamarine is a Stone of Courage and Protection. Used often with the Throat Chakra, Aquamarine can be used to promote verbal self-expression. It is often used to enhance spiritual communication and clear communication blocks. February Meeting We were lucky to induct two new members to the Club. Jackie Woodward and Nazma Khan were inducted by President Annette. Our guest speaker at the February meeting was Craig Smith who is Chairman of the Southland Medical Foundation. Craig gave us an interesting insight into the Foundation. He advised that the Southland Medical Foundation was founded in 1966 to provide finance for medical education and research for the benefit of the people of the Southland District. The Meeting noted that the main beneficiaries are nurses, doctors and other healthcare workers who are assisted by way of grants to attend conferences and courses to update and or enlarge knowledge of their specialty. The Foundation also receives applications from health institutions for funding to provide needed equipment. During the past 20 years the Foundation has paid out more than $1.6 million in grants. To assist the Foundation with its work, the Club made a donation.
