The President s Column No Report For the Good of the Association The Calvary Expo was a huge success again, we had many people stop by the table some of which have since joined the Club. As of the event date this was to be the last outdoor expo at Calvary Church. There is a possibility it may continue in the future but nothing is set at this time. The Meat Shoot was a success though we would like to see more participants in upcoming shoots It was noted that shoots can be advertised in the Penny Power as long as firearms are not mentioned. The Boy Scouts of America Tohickon District is planning a Fishing Derby for new Cub Scouts at either New Galena or Lake Nockamixon on June 11, if you are interested in lending a hand at the event please contact Thomas Guertin @ 215-348-7205 or 215-688- 1047. Members hunting the property are required to wear orange outerwear as required by the Game commission. We need all Members to help police the property when they are using it, don t be bashful if you see someone you do not recognize on the grounds, ask to see their membership card. Any Member using a treestand or ground blind on the club property is required to have their member number posted on the stand or blind. Meetings are taking place to work on holding a Club picnic, more information to follow as the planning progresses. Please remember to sign in and have your Membership card in your possession when using the Club grounds for any reason. You know where the sign in boxes are and it only takes a few seconds to do. Pamphlet The Club email address is milford_fgfa@windstreaml.net Any Member that would like to add something to the newsletter can do so by sending me an email at bownutz@hotmail.com or send it to the Club. The bi-monthly newsletter can be viewed on the Club website www.milfordtownshipfishandgame.com If you know of anyone that would like to advertise in the newsletter let us know and we will contact them. Fishing Trout season opens in the Southeast area of the State on April 2, the rest of the State opens April 16 There are some reports of shad being caught in the Delaware River Game Spring Gobbler season opens on Saturday April 30. Forestry Wood cutting permits are available. Archery The February shoot had 32 shooters, a good start to the year. Absolutely no broadheads can be shot into the black practice targets. Use the layered target or the 3D bear for broadheads. Ranges Work will begin on the100 yard range when the weather gets better, there will be periods of time when the range will be unavailable for use and will be posted as such when the work begins. As a reminder the ranges have been re-designated as the 50 yard and 100 yard ranges. Any new sight in of a firearm should be done on the 50 yard range. Start at the 25 yard and zero the gun, a rifle zeroed at 25 yards will be on or very close to zero elevation at 100 yards. On the 100 yard range you must shoot from the benches. This is a reminder to use the flags when using the ranges. The red flag is to be flown when actively shooting and posting or retrieving targets. The green flag is to be flown when the range is clear. Please pick up your spent brass on the ranges. Chester Dotts/ Public Relations/Entertainment No report Joe Petrovec Work Parties There will be a work party on April 21, come out and join us. Gary Erbe 50/50 and Membership Drawings The 50/50 drawings in February and March were cash prizes, the Membership drawing has not been claimed yet this year, it accrues $5.00 per month until there is a winner.
