Immediately after the state convention the Southwest Regional Conference was held in Denver. The conference was attended by Mary Ann, Pat Lemke, and Carolyn Rigsby. You will hear more about these events at our first meeting. Thanks to everybody s help, Theta Zeta was recognized at the state convention with the PACE, Annie, Yearbook, Newsletter, and Website awards. The Executive Board met in July. Goals for the year were discussed. Of course the main goal is to obtain, retain and reinstate members. Letters were sent to a number of former members asking them to consider reinstating their membership. The Finance Committee reviewed the finances and formulated a budget for the coming year. Even though the state dues were increased by $8.00, the committee felt that we did not need to increase the dues since the chapter had done well with the fund raisers last year. The dues remain In August Debbie Elliott, Barbara Larrabee, and I set up a table at the Clear Creek ISD New Teacher Orientation. We handed out a number of chapter brochures and had several sign in. We also donated two door prizes. The ones who signed in will be invited to be our guests at the first meeting. Hope to see all of you on the 20 th. Theta Zeta Chapter Minutes March 22, 2011 The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Carolyn Rigsby called the meeting to order at 6 pm. Eleanor Scott gave The meditation on Springtown Wonder,. Debbie Elliott reported our attendance tonight as 51%. BUSINESS The minutes were read and approved. Pat Lemke read the Treasurer s Report. Ending balance from 3-22-11 is $2,890.17. Deposits of $253.15 reported, leaving a balance on hand of $2,754.12. The treasurer s report was filed for audit. Marianne Kolar led us in singing Singing in the Rain before our program. PROGRAM Raise Your Hand and Sit Up Straight given by Lauren Balletto. Problems of carpal tunnel syndrome were addressed. Exercise handouts gave us ways to change these repetitive motions. Take frequent breaks to change our actions/motions when using the computer. REPORTS : ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ( Member of the Month) - Mary Ann Waldon presented Cappi McNeill with the award for all her work on the Quilt Activity and programs planned for this year. TECHNOLOGY Mary Ann Waldon has put photos on our webpage of chapter activities. Other photos will be sent to the State Convention for chapter recognition.
COURTESY Sonya Markham recognized all the spring birthdays with a home made sweet. Those on her list were Jan Teague, Eleanor Scott, Carolyn Rigsby, Robbie Ladd, Beverly Akin, Margaret Briggs, Lorraine Erickson, and Ella Louise Sherron. NEW BUSINESS - Planning to attend the State Convention in McAllen in June. Our President, Carolyn Rigsby has been selected as the new State Necrology Chairman. ANNOUNCEMENTS Lorraine announced the Founder s Day Dinner at South Shore Country Club on May 17 th at 5:30 pm. Send your check for $25.00 to Pat Lemke. This event is with Mu Alpha. Bring a prospective new member to let them see our chapter at work and at play. The Birthday Tea with Mu Alpha is April 10 th. The location is the League City Church of Christ at 1801 E. Main St. at 2 pm. The Delta Kappa Gamma song ended our meeting. We adjourned at 7:30 pm. Theta Zeta Dues Dues for the 2011-2012 year are $85.00 once again and are presently being accepted. Proposed Chapter Rules Change At the Board Meeting Margaret Payne moved to amend eligibility for the Grant- in- Aid provision to include teachers with three or less years experience. This will be voted on at the meeting on the 20 th. Another item to be voted on at the meeting: Margaret moved that the president of Theta Zeta Chapter draft an annual letter to be sent to CCISD/LaPorteISD principals for the purpose of recommending women educators for a Theta Zeta Grant-in-Aid. Another opportunity for our members and friends came to me this week. Here is the program. Anyone who has had Cancer can go to the St. John's Sports Medicine program through the sponsorship of MDAnderson Center at St. John's. for 6 weeks for $50.00. A personal trainer will go over the program with them to help start them to get stronger to prevent falls/injuries. No matter what insurance you have or if you do not go to St. John's, you can take advantage of this program. Do you feel this information should be put out to our membership? They can just call - 281-523-3028 and ask for Julie White ( she is a Cancer survivor) at St. John's Sports Medicine. Maybe someone in our Theta Zeta would find this offer beneficial.
