This event will be an opportunity to recognize leaders who have been working tirelessly to make the promise of the Human Right to in California a reality. This year, CWC and its partners have taken on the challenging task of advocating for a sustainable statewide funding source to ensure all Californians have access to safe, clean and affordable water. Right now, there are funding sources to pay for the construction of drinking water treatment plants and other capital costs, but no funds to help pay for operations and maintenance of those systems in low-income communities. This critical funding gap has kept safe drinking water out of reach for more than one million Californians who are impacted by unsafe drinking water. During this time, we need your support more than ever, and we invite you to join us and our community partners at this event, as well as members of the Legislature, members of the Governor s Office, state agency officials, and statewide environmental justice, health, human rights, labor, academic, legal, tribal, and faith-based organizations. During the event, you will be able to meet partners and allies, discuss opportunities to build the movement for water justice in California, and hear from inspirational voices who continue to work for a better future for us all, even against great odds.
