I hope you were able to spend some holiday time with your children and that you are all nicely refreshed (and warm) for the new term at school. One of our key aims at St. John Vianney s is to provide a safe and nurturing culture for all the children who attend our school. As a school we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. This is also supported by the Victorian Government who have introduced minimum Child Safe Standards into law to ensure organisations providing services for children create child-safe environments. Information providing Child Safe Schools is included in the newsletter. A reminder that we will be celebrating Grandparents Day on Monday August 8. Please note this in your diary as it promises to be a fun morning. More details to follow closer to the event. WINE AND CHEESE PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT The school will be holding a Wine and Cheese Parent Information Night on Wednesday July 27th in the Brigidine Learning Centre. Over a glass of wine I will report back to you on the School Review and the schools Strategic Plan for the next 4 years. I will also speak to you about the Child Safe Standards and what that looks like at St. John Vianney s. The night commences at 7PM and there will be babysitting provided. I look forward to seeing you all there. SEMESTER ONE REPORTS The recent Semester 1 Reports and Family/Teacher meetings provided feedback on your child s progress in terms 1 and 2 and importantly what they need to focus on for the rest of the year. I am still interested to hear from families about the new reports. At this stage we have only had a small amount of responses. Please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/vr2b8xy to provide your feedback. It will take only 2 minutes to complete. SOCIAL JUSTICE AT ST. JOHN VIANNEY S 1. Did you see the article in the local paper highlighting all our great efforts for Cold Comfort Day? (A copy of the article is included in the newsletter.) Well done everyone for your support of the day and for the $480.15 we raised. 2. Our next social justice activity is a Shared Morning Tea on Tuesday July 26th. Students are asked to bring some money to school and purchase lots of delicious morning tea which will be supplied by the staff and parents. Monies raised will support the family of Arthee(1/2BG) and Arthiny(1S) who recently lost their father. SJV FETE NEWS The next fete meeting is on tonight, Wednesday July 12 at 7PM in the Parish Room. In the lead up to the fete there will be various donation drives that we would love you to be able to support. The first of these will be starting on Monday August 1. More details to follow.
