East Cobb Lions Serving our community for 59 years! We Serve June, 2018 Page 1 of 7 From our President Hello my fellow Lions, the month of June has arrived. The warm days and cool evenings of the start of summer is here. I truly enjoy June, but, never look forward to the hot humid days of July and August. In the month of June we are still looking at having our final fund raiser at Johnnie MacCracken s, located on the Marietta square, in lieu of our traditional spaghetti dinner. Details are still in the works. Our installation dinner has been moved to July 10th at Olde Towne Athletic Club, so mark your calendar. It is amazing how quickly my year as your president is coming to an end. I have enjoyed being your president this past year. And, I want to thank you all for allowing me to steer your great Lions ship, your club, this year. I want to thank our board members for the guidance and advise given to me throughout the year in keeping our club on a steady course, and moving forward in serving our community. As I pass the baton to Lion Susan Hampton and Henry Bohn who will co-chair the presidency in the New Year, I wish them the best. May God bless you all and give you the peace of mind and strength to continue to serve as Lions in the new year. Page 6 of 7 The NASCAR Cup Race at Atlanta Motor Speedway Lions, Were you watching the NASCAR Cup race Saturday evening? Did you spot our very own "racy" (based on some of his jokes when he was our tailtwister) Lion Dick Morris. He was part of a group of American heroes who commanded the drivers to "Start your engines!" at the beginning of the race. What an experience and honor. Next thing you know, he'll have racing slicks and flames on his walkers. Let's hope, he gets a horn, too. We love you Lion Dick, you make us proud. Lion Ray
