Spring 2015 Edition A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT 1 2015 REGISTRATION..2 ENTERTAINMENT NIGHT..3 Our Mission: Training the Colorado Family Support Professional Since 1974. The Colorado Family Support Council is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to update and train individuals and agencies on the laws and procedures related to child support establishment and enforcement. This year we are doing a couple of different changes; for one we are going to do more giveaways. Who knows when your name will be called, Opening Session, Lunch, Banquet or Brunch? Even at the President Reception? This year with weather permitting we will be doing the President Reception outside, so we can enjoy the view that that Steamboat Springs has to offer. I hope many of you will come by and say hi. It will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 @ 6:00 p.m. It is so hard to believe beginning August 2014, this board began putting ideas together, getting suggestions from all of you child support workers. Now have those ideas in place. This year it has been amazing how a board from different counties manage to collaborate to put these ideas in place, and really did some out of the box thinking to try something different. Planning this conference does not happen overnight, it takes months and months of planning and getting in touch with good trainers to provide the best sessions. If you ever wonder what happens, and how this is put together, I would suggest thinking about joining this amazing group. Especially if you have one of those creative minds and enjoys meeting different people from different counties. This is what this board is made up of, small, medium, large counties and including folks from the State and partner vendors. If you like to see other counties, this is it; we try to visit each of the Counties the board members represent. Now you ask how I can do this, I am busy? Well, we also do telephone conference calls, so you can call in if you are unable to make every meeting. We meet the first Friday of every month. If you chose to be part of this amazing group, you must have supervisor approval. If you are attending the conference this year, come by the registration desk and ask or look for any board member to find out what it is like. I encourage any child support worker to join, it s a learning experience and you are able to see how all that hard work comes together at the conference. Remember, this conference is for all of child support workers from all of 64 counties. Where else can you sit and meet and collaborate with other county workers and even get that once a year hugs from someone you only see at the conference. I would like to take this time to give the CFSC Board huge THANK YOU, for their support, their patience with me in learning and willing to do something different. We have had our hills to climb, but we did it together and I so much appreciate all of the hard work they have done and will be doing. I am looking forward in seeing familiar faces and new ones. See you in Steamboat! Lupe Abeyta CFSC President 2014-2015

Casino Night by Shannon Adams For entertainment night we have hired casino Party USA to come and do a casino night. They will be providing a couple of professional dealers, but we will be needing volunteers to be dealers as well. We need to see if people would be willing to deal for an hour at one of the tables. Professional training will be provided and there will be a pit boss to help with any questions. We will have a craps table, a roulette table, 5 blackjack tables and 1 Texas Hold em table. We will need the volunteers for Blackjack and Texas Hold em. The training will be provided one hour before the event. If someone would like to commit to dealing, they can send me an email at sadams@garfield-county.com and I will get them on the list. Entertainment night will begin at 7:00 and will last until 10pm. Each guest will start out with $500 in gaming chips at no cost. For every $100 in gaming chips, they can trade in for 1 drawing ticket. These tickets will be used in a drawing for a prize at the end of the night. If people run out of money while gambling, they can obtain more chips for a donation to the charity. I am hoping to be able to do a few door prizes throughout the night as well, but that will depend on the volume of donations received. Speaker Bio Shawn B. Young, M.A., M.F.A.
