We offer a comprehensive course of study covering functional anatomy and the exercises on the Mat, Universal Reformer, Trapeze Table, Wunda Chair, Ped-O-Pul, Low Barrel and High Barrel. Each exercise has a specific name and objective and requires the appropriate use of sequencing, repetitions and resistance as it relates to each piece of equipment. In addition, for each exercise we outline the following: Safety considerations for set-up and progression Verbal cueing and spotting techniques Application of the Pilates principles to each exercise Exercise modifications and simplifications for special conditions Individualized program design specific to client needs and goals We also have the option of going through each module separately rather than completing the entire comprehensive course at one time. Course Requirements and Prerequisites BBU Pilates Mat Instructor Certification Requirements for Completion To become a fully qualified Balanced Body University Mat Instructor, students must complete the following: Anatomy (included in Mat 1) BBU Mat 1 - Course work, written and practical test (16 hours) BBU Mat 2 - Course work, written and practical test (16 hours) 25 Mat Personal Sessions - 45 Mat Student Teaching Hours Total hours for completion of Mat program: 102 hours Upon completion of all of the requirements, a certificate of completion as a Balanced Body University Mat Instructor will be issued. Note: The final practical exam for the Mat training is included in the Module 2 unless separate arrangements are made. BBU Pilates Reformer Instructor Certification Requirements for Completion To become a fully qualified Balanced Body University Reformer Instructor, students must complete the following: Anatomy (included in Mat 1) BBU Mat Instructor training or equivalent BBU Reformer 1 - Course work, written and practical test (16 hours) BBU Reformer 2 - Course work, written and practical test (16 hours) BBU Reformer 3 - Course work, written and practical test (16 hours) 50 Personal practice hours 100 Teaching hours Practical test Total hours for completion for Reformer program: 198 hours Upon completion of all of the requirements, a certificate of completion as a Balanced Body University Reformer Instructor will be issued. Pilates Apparatus Certification Program Modules: Trapeze Table/Cadillac, Chair, Barrels and Small Equipment BBU Pilates Apparatus Certification completes the full Pilates instructor certification program. Included is the complete repertoire on the Trapeze Table/Cadillac, the Pilates Chair, the Barrels and small equipment. Completing the additional apparatus training gives you a great variety of tools to use when working with clients and qualifies you to take the national Pilates certification exam. The modules may be offered individually or they may be combined depending on the equipment available at the host studio. To become a fully qualified Balanced Body University Pilates Instructor, students must complete the following requirements: Anatomy (required) BBU Mat Instructor training or equivalent BBU Reformer Instructor training or equivalent BBU Cadillac/Tower - Course work, written and practical test (18 hours) BBU Chair - Course work, written and practical test (12 hours) BBU Barrels - Course work, written and practical test (6 hours) 50 Personal practice hours 100 Teaching hours Practical test Total hours for completion of Apparatus: 186 hours Total hours for completion of full program: 486 hours Upon completion of all of the requirements, a certificate of completion as a Balanced Body University Pilates Instructor will be issued. About our Teachers Gabrielle Shrier MPT Gabrielle Shrier graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology from UCLA and holds a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from USC. She spent the early part of her career specializing in neurological disorders and is NDT certified. She has completed a comprehensive course in the Australian approach of manual therapy and is PMA gold-certified in Pilates and certified in Gyrotonic. Gabrielle practices Women s Health and CranialSacral Therapy. She has spent the past 3 years integrating Pilates and her background in physical therapy with her love of sports. She has been practicing physical therapy since 1994 and has been a member of the APTA for over 10 years. Dawn-Marie Ickes MPT Dawn-Marie Ickes holds a B.S. in Biology from Loyola Marymount University and a Masters in Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Mary's College. She is PMA gold-certified in Pilates and was elected to the first national board of directors for the Pilates Method Alliance in 2001 (a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and maintenance of standards in the Pilates profession). She is a licensed physical therapist who has been teaching workshops in the areas of pediatrics, prosthetics and woman's health for the past 6 years in addition to developing educational programs for health care professionals integrating Pilates and rehabilitation. Her clinical experience includes Pre and Post natal rehabilitation, pediatric orthopedics, neurology and sports medicine. Her diverse clinical background and personal experience in athletics has helped Dawn-Marie to have a more personal connection in mechanics of body movement and sports medicine. She has a published chapter in Orthopedics and has presented nationally since 1997. She is an active member of the APTA and sat on the Board of Directors for the Pilates Method Alliance from 2001-2007. Dawn-Marie is currently teaching the first Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Course within the Masters of Physical Therapy curriculum at CSUN. Allyson L. Cabot PT Allyson L. Cabot holds a B.S. in Physical Therapy from CSULB, and a B.S. in Kinesiology from UCLA. She is PMA gold-certified in Pilates, certified in Gyrotonic. and has been practicing physical therapy since1991. For the past 5 years Allyson has worked to develop educational programs for health care professionals integrating Pilates and rehabilitation. She brings to her practice a unique background in mind-body fitness, drawing upon much of her own personal experiences in sports and fitness. Allyson practices CranioSacral therapy in addition to her diverse background in manual orthopedics, women's health and neurological 7

rehabilitation. She has been practicing physical therapy for over12 years and is an active member of the APTA. Roger Gonzalez Hibner, CPI Roger Gonzalez Hibner finally settled in Los Angeles after being invited to join the Lewitzsky Dance Company in 1991. He left his native Mexico to attend the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. After graduation he moved to New York where he worked with the Solomons Company/Dance and the Milton Myers Dance Company. He is currently involved with several projects that include playing and learning with his son Adrian and with the PostHouse Dance Group. Roger is a PMA gold- certified Pilates instructor who has been studying under Romana Kryzanowsca since 1995. He has worked with and taught master classes for dancers, Pilates teachers, physical therapists and many others. You can find him in the Winsor Pilates video series. Cari Riis Stemmler, CPI / CPT Cari is currently Co-Director of Teacher Training, Studio Manager and Education Coordinator for Core Conditioning. Cari has been working with the body much of her life; first as a professional dancer with companies such as Ballet of the Dolls in Minneapolis, MN and Winifred Harris Between Lines in Los Angeles, CA. She started teaching Pilates in 1997 at Bodyline Fitness Studio in CA, and has been a practitioner of Ashtanga, Hatha and Anusara yoga since 1996. Cari became a Certified Fitness Trainer in 2002 and now brings all of these disciplines together to cultivate a well-rounded approach to fitness and wellness. She has a strong belief in the power of movement as a healing force, one that is capable of making positive changes to promote balance in a person s life. Cari is PMA goldcertified in Pilates and is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine for personal training. She also holds a B.A. degree in Cross-cultural Communication from the University of Minnesota. 8

About Our Facility In response to a growing need in the medical community for a fusion of mind-body fitness and rehabilitation, Allyson Cabot, Dawn-Marie Ickes and Gabrielle Shrier have partnered to create Core Conditioning, a comprehensive physical therapy, Pilates and Gyrotonic facility. With degrees in Kinesiology and Biology, their collective integration of movement science with rehabilitation has led to the creation of a unique healthcare experience. They have developed a comprehensive Pilates program to educate teachers to safely instruct both fitness clients and those with imbalances/injuries. The partners are licensed physical therapists with diverse backgrounds including pediatrics, women s health, neurological rehabilitation, osteopathic techniques and dance and sports medicine. They have also taken a special interest in Dance Medicine and have been trained in Dance Rehabilitation with the Harkness Center of Dance Rehabilitation in NYC. They are active members of the International Association of Dance Medicine and are currently conducting research on dancers in conjunction with the Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy Department at USC. 9
