Presidents report :- Our remaining old Art Boards have been donated to the Mortlake Art Group and were delivered by Henry and Geoff Hodgkinson. Our incoming Office Bearers attended a training day in Hamilton. Two successful wood raffles have been conducted. Koroit Lions borrowed our Art boards for their annual Art Show on the long weekend. We cooked for the Dachshund Dash Breakfast on the Fiddlers Green for several hundred people on the long weekend before they (dogs) went to Southcombe Park for their races. Our 40 th Birthday Dinner celebration was an enjoyable evening with 66 current and past members attending the night. Thanks to Lion Sue and her team for their work on the night also thanks to the others members who helped set up and decorate the hall for the function. I was pleased to see eight of the Port Fairy Lions attend Koroit Lion Dinner meeting at the Star of the West hotel in Port Fairy. Thank You from your President I would like to sincerely thank the Port Fairy- Belfast Lions Club for the generous donation presented to my son and daughter in law following the fire and loss of their home. Your swift response enabled them to replace beds and bedding that was lost in the fire. Our family was absolutely overwhelmed by the Lions thoughtfulness with that donation. It makes me extremely proud to be a Lion when I see first hand what effect we as Lions can have in peoples lives when disaster happens, once again thank you very much. 2

Our 40 th Birthday Celebration More than 60 past and present members of the Port Fairy-Belfast Lions, their partners plus guests from the Macarthur and Koroit clubs, celebrated the Port Fairy-Belfast Lions 40 th anniversary on June 6, 2017 at the Senior Citizens hall, Port Fairy. President Keith Gibson started the formal proceedings by reading out an article from past records describing the founding of the club. The evening was a great success with entertainment provided by Jim Kent who read some of his poetry and Keith Dawson who sang a Geordie song that we are still trying to translate!. It was a particularly special night for Graeme Munroe who was inducted into the club as a new member by Bruce Lowenthal. Thanks goes to Sue Barnes for coordinating this excellent event and to her team of helpers who did a sterling job in decorating and preparing the hall. 3

Membership Chairman's Report June 2017 Not a great deal to report this month:- I have visited and given "Get Well" cards to, Noel Frencham, Bob Towler and Mary Scott in Port Fairy Hospital this month, with Noel still a patient, but hoping to return home on Friday. The Chairs for Belfast House, are at present on trial, one of each type, I have photos of them if anyone wishes to view them, & received the Account today. I also called in to see Julie Hall Moyne Health Gym Coordinator, re the "Recumbent Bike" which I gather, they are waiting for the new Physio to start work, so they choose the correct type. I organised a "Death Notice" on behalf of the Club for the late Lion Vic Gillatt, to go into the Moyne Gazette. In future, I will organise such notices, through the Standard Office in 4

Warrnambool, in person. By ringing the number for "Classifieds" in the Moyne Gazette, I was put through to Manilla, Philippines! Thank to all for your assistance with the "Dogs Breakfast" BBQ on Sunday June 12th, we had 73 Dachshunds entered, a great day. I have been into Port Fairy Post Office re " Working with Children Check", I was informed that there is no charge for Volunteers, this has also been confirmed to me by Peter Down, who has recently completed his check; you go in online, Department of Justice, complete the questions, they email you a form/receipt, take this into the Port Fairy Post Office, they do the rest. I had a phone call from Jack Smits Construction Coordinator Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee re some questions/concerns on the "Instrument Storage/Lock up". On consultation with Ann Maree, I emailed the enclosed letter. I gather from Jack a member of the PFFF Committee will visit us sometime in the future, just to have a better working relationship. Congratulations to all for great organization of the 40th Birthday/ Year of Charter. I attended along with other New Board Members, an information night organised by Lion Wendy Hunter, incoming Secretary, very informative night. We need to keep our numbers up at " Business Meetings" to make sure we have a quorum, which 50% of Club Membership plus one! A letter from Henry to the Folk Festival re complaint at the festival Dear Jack, Re our phone call, I have just spoken to Ann Maree Marslen the coordinator of Port Fairy Belfast Lions Club Instrument Storage/Lock up. We were open at Instrument Storage/Lock up at 2pm Friday ( we would like this advertised by Port Fairy Folk Festival to all Artists) we will continue to do this in the future, This year as in other years it was advertised that we did not open until 4pm. We hold our briefing meetings Wednesday/Thursday prior. We would like to open at this time of 2pm to try to avoid a backlog of Artists wanting to all book in at 4pm. We think complaints may have come from the Instrument Makers not being able to access their Storage/Lock up at the Cricket Club Rooms, due to head man going away with the key? The Lions had no problems with no hard wired phones, we were receiving calls from back stage, but think some calls were being made to Front Office for Artists who had not booked in their Transport. Artists can book their transport for the whole Folk Festival when they first arrive on Friday. But I guess we will always make a few mistakes i.e. miss one or two! Slight problem with 2 way Radios, not having a list of "Channels" for Construction, Electrical etc, until Russel Lemke provided us with a list on Saturday or Sunday. Our contract with Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee at the moment states that we must remain open until 2am, each day. We would like the Committee to consider allowing to close at 1.30am each day, as our members are finding no one needing Transport etc after that time. Do you require this request on an official Lions Letter head from the Secretary? Your continuing support of our Club is greatly appreciated. Hope you can understand this, give me a call, I will print a hard copy to have with me, I have a meeting at 10am with Ashley King. Kind regards Henry Henry Toller-Bond, 5

Member of the Port Fairy Belfast Lions Club. FOR YOUR INFORMATION AS A MEMBER 1. Division are very keen for clubs to send out agendas and minutes in advance of the meetings. Therefore, incoming Secretary, Wendy Hunter, plans to email out the agenda for business meetings by no later than Monday prior to the meeting. She has requested that where possible the leadership team and activity team leaders or coordinators send in their report by Friday prior to the Business meeting in order that they can be distributed with the Agenda in advance of the meeting. A prize is available for the first person to get their report to her. We are going to trial distributing the minutes of meetings with the Light. This should ensure that all members receive a copy of the minutes in advance of the next business meeting. Members who do not have email addresses, will have their agenda and minutes delivered to them. NOTE: Please make sure you bring your copy of the Agenda and the Minutes to meetings, as there will only be limited copies available on the night. 2. We have been advised by the Division that where possible, apologies for nonattendance at meetings should be directly conveyed to the Secretary or a member of the leadership team prior to the meeting. This is to avoid problems with insurance. An example was given where member X had asked another to give his apologies at the meeting. However, on the night member X decided to attend, but had a crash on the way. Because he had been recorded as an apology, the club s insurance policy did not cover him. 3. Remember that this is your club and we rely on all members to be involved in meetings and activities where possible. You have a right to have a say, but you can really only influence decisions if you attend meetings and vote for or against motions. We encourage all members to attend not only the dinner meetings but also the business meetings on the 3 rd Wednesday of the month. For any member who feels uncomfortable turning up alone, please contact Wendy Hunter on 04019 71088 or Sue Barnes on 0400225159 and they will arrange for another member to accompany you to the meeting. 6
