Watoto kids waiting for the playground: The interviewing process continues for a new Music Director, with a wide variety of search committee members including lay people and clergy. We should have an announcement very soon in regards to the position being filled. Given the interest thus far, we are hopeful that a new Music Director will be in place this fall. Our regular Sunday music continues through the summer months with a rota of substitute organists. Margaret Bardos (Bo) continues with us and is helping to guide and coordinate with our various guest organists. Please pray for the Watoto 2014 Build Team as they travel to Uganda to build a playground. They will travel from August 16 29. We welcome David Low this morning and August 31 as our guest organist.
After: Save the date! Thursday, September 25th at 6pm Our Faith, Our Family, a new faith formation program, begins on Thursday, September 25th. Beena: This small group will help families connect with their faith and with one another. We'll help make it easier by providing dinner, childcare for very young children, and a children's faith formation program for older kids while adults gather to work through and discuss the program, "Living the Questions" Please see Megan, Andrew, or Lindsay for more details.
Day 4 of the Watoto build and we almost have a functional playground. At the beginning of the build, the playground looked like a massive Ikea project, with no Ikea instructions just pictures of what the final playground should look like. But now, the fruits of our labour have almost come to fruition. Being a goal-oriented person, I was pleasantly surprised with the progress we made from day to day. It helps when you work with likeminded people our team definitely did not shy away from hard work. My excitement, however, is nothing compared to the excitement of the children coming by the site every day, waiting anxiously to use their new playground. The Watoto build has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It s a great feeling knowing that the playground we ve created with our own hands and time will be appreciated by the Watoto children for years to come. Friends, The Watoto 2014 Mission Team have travelled to Uganda with a group of parishioners as part of our ongoing ministry to the widows and orphans of Uganda in partnership with Watoto. While there we will be building a playground in one of the children s villages. Please pray for the health and safety of myself, Penny, Beena, Joan, Vicki, and Stuart. And do check-out our website and Facebook for updates. Blessings, Andrew Watoto Arrival Hello from Uganda!!!! As one of the newbies of the group, I have been amazed and overwhelmed at the positive attitude of the Ugandan people, whose pride in their country and their faith is certainly made an impact on me!!! I can take their positivity of their faith and learn a lot about my faith and how it should change. The Ugandans have extended their hospitality to make us feel welcome and at home. Dear Fellow Parishioners!!! We arrived safe and sound late Sunday night/early Monday morning. Our first day was orientation and a visit to Baby Watoto.a truly moving experience the comfort of seeing those babies being looked after and loved was truly a rewarding experience. The organization of the centre for the babies was remarkable, even for the very tiny babies who needed constant care. We were all very impressed by the care and compassion shown by the staff who are dedicated to these little ones. Mats made out of milk bags were donated by a group of Seniors in Dorchester, Ontario that were well received and used right away to lay the babies on during their time of bonding knowing they are loved. Please also visit Facebook for more pictures of our first few days and be sure to like and comment. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers for our journey and safe return. Best Regards, Penny Oliver
