Assembly theme this week Our school value this half term is Forgiveness and the theme for assemblies this week is as follows: Red Nose Day for Comic Relief Friday 13th March We will be supporting Comic Relief again this year. On Friday the 13th March, children can dress down for a 1 donation to the cause. They can also Make Their Face Funny for Money, this could be just wearing a red nose or painting their face. Lots of ideas can be found on www.rednoseday.com

World Book Week 2nd March Next week there will be lots of fun activities in school for World Book Week. The Space Jump Theatre group will be in school on the Monday to start the week with performances for the children from lots of different well known books. Tuesday after school, year 4 are organising a book sale to raise funds for the school library, thank you for your book donations. Throughout the rest of the week there will be lots of activities in school such as storytelling sessions and a book quiz. For the finale of World Book Week on Friday, the children will have the opportunity to dress as a character from their favourite book. We were hoping to offer face painting on the Friday, unfortunately, we have not had a volunteer come forward so we will not be able to offer this. During the week, the children will be bringing home a 1 book token. This is a gift from booksellers and publishers and can be swapped for one of 10 exclusive World Book Day 1 books or used to get 1 off any full priced book costing 2.99 or more. Please see the rest of this newsletter for more World Book Week events! Welcome to Our New Parent Support Worker Our new family support worker, Mrs Lisa McCullough, joined us this week. Lisa will be holding an informal coffee and chat meeting in the church room next Wednesday 4th March 2:30-3:00 for any parents who want to come along. She will be in school each Wednesday working with children and will be available at the end of the school day if anyone would like a chat on any number of family or parenting matters. We will let you know her mobile number / email address once they have been set up.

Tuesday 3rd March After school - in the Hall. A wide range of children s reading materials available to buy. Lots of books for adults too. Prices start from 20p. Small change would be appreciated. The Book People will also be there selling brand new books. Please come along and help us raise funds to renew our Library books and furnishings. ***Volunteers Still Needed*** We currently need a couple of parents who can commit an hour or 2 to listen to children read. If you can offer your time, please let the Office know and Mrs Turner will be in touch with further details.

Send in a photograph of your child reading their favourite book and give them a chance to win a 5 book token. The catch is this the photo has to show them reading in the most unusual or EXTREME place that you can come up with (don t forget to think about safety). Closing date for entries - Friday 6th March (the last day of Book Week). Prizes - There are three 5 Book Tokens to be won - one each for EYFS, KS1 and KS2. (Don t forget to write your child s name and class on the photograph.)

Multi-sports Holiday Club Children in years 3 and 4 had the opportunity to take part in a holiday club run by Starlands Coaching. Below is a report from Isaac Couchman in year 4. During the half term holiday, I went to a Multi-Sports camp at school and really enjoyed it. I would like to do it again. Mr Howard and Mr Bourne were really fun and I think they enjoyed it too. We did lots of fun games and our favourite games were football, gymnastics and American football. We are hoping to run this holiday club for year 5 at Easter, letters will go out closer to the time.
