MARCH 2012 OMEGA TAU SIGMA ETA CHAPTER FROM THE SQUARE Before During Eta chapter updates, upgrades basement The Eta chapter spent the entire month of February making massive upgrades to our Burnett Street basement. We stripped carpet and tile, fixed water damaged bricks, painted the walls and floors, upgraded electronics, painted a chalkboard wall and a vibrant mural featuring the UGA CVM logo, and rearranged furniture to make the basement the ultimate place to play and party. Our members worked tirelessly and all the improvements were financed completely through member contributions. We look forward to sharing the basement with our alumni this fall at our Alumni tailgate. Sign of the times: Eta house proudly displays new name tag in front yard Burnett Street became a little more attractive this month as the Eta house welcomed the addition of a new sign in the front yard. It features the OTS crest and vibrantly displays the fraternity colors of maroon and navy as seen to the upper left. It was designed, donated and transported to the Eta house most generously by Dr. Nonie Eakle (Eta class of 1982). The sign embodies the bold changes that have been made in the Eta chapter within the last year and our membership takes great pride in the fraternity it represents. Thanks Dr. Eakle!

2012 WHITE CARNATION FORMAL Straight from the photo booth... FEBRUARY MEMBER OF THE MONTH CONGRATULATIONS TO MS. MAREN MASON AS SHE WAS VOTED THE OTS MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY. SHE WAS NOMINATED FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS IN OUR BASEMENT CLEANUP AND UPGRADE AND RECEIVED A BEST BUY GIFT CARD, OTS RECOGNITION PIN AND THE OMINOUS PRIVILEGE OF HAVING HER NAME ON THE WALL BEHIND THE KEGERATOR FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH! THANKS MAREN! Join us on Facebook! If you d like to keep up with the day-to-day activities of our fraternity, we d love for you to join our facebook group! We update it daily with information regarding events, pictures, and other news about everything Eta. Just search Omega Tau Sigma Eta Chapter on the facebook search bar, find our group and request approval for an inside look at the happenings of our fraternity.

A letter from our officers... Dear distinguished alumni, As you can see, the Eta chapter has been very busy over the last few weeks. We d like to give a big thank you to all of our members who sacrificed their money, time, and those ever-soprecious Friday nights to help make our basement a place where any veterinary student can enjoy and every Omega Tau Sigma member can be especially proud of. We hope to have an opportunity to share our hard work with our alumni in the fall with a tailgate for one of the dawgs September home games at the house. Look for more details over the next couple months. We were privileged to play host to a wonderful group of alums at our annual Alumni Night on March 24. Weaver D s catered a fantastic meal and proved once again why they truly are automatic for the people. For those who were fortunate enough to attend, we thank you so much for the ideas you shared with us and contributions you made to our chapter. If you are interested in purchasing any Omega Tau Sigma merchandise please send us an email at OTSEta@gmail.com. We have OTS shirts available in red, navy and hunter green and hats available in white and black which are pictured on the second page of our newsletter. We would be more than happy to ship any order to any corner of the country! It s but one of many fundraisers our chapter is currently engaged in and has thus far been a tremendous success. Speaking of fundraising, at Alumni Night Dr. Miller gave a presentation about the current state of alumni finances. As current members of Omega Tau Sigma, we appreciate greatly the facilities we have access to and the rich tradition laid by those before us. As with nearly every organization recently, the economy has hit OTS Alumni finances especially hard and coupled with recent changes in UGA s requirements of fraternities the alumni account is in dire need of contributions. If you re interested in helping out or would like to learn more about our current financial situation, please don t hesitate to contact Dr. Miller (miller@uga.edu) or our chapter email address. It is only through the generosity of our predecessors that we can accomplish our goals as a fraternity, and as officers we hope the membership we represent will be as gracious in the future as those who have come before us. Coming up over the final two months of the spring semester we will be hosting several events including our traditional Thirsty Thursdays, an April Dinner on the Deck and social, a chartered trip to the Atlanta Braves game in May and a school wide Cinco de Mayo bash to close out the year. Our social chairs have already begun preparing for fall rush and we re looking forward to introducing our fraternity to the class of 2016 with great anticipation. We hope that if you have any questions or would like to hear more about us you absolutely won t hesitate to contact us through our email address above. Thanks for all you do!
