The Association is made up of 8 disciplines: biathlon, hand gun, archery, trap & skeet, big bore rifle, blackpowder, 22 rifle and indoor range shooting. We are dedicated to the safe handling of rifles, handguns, etc and to providing a facility that is second to none in Canada. While we are a controlled facility we are open to the public and offer membership for sale at Outdoor Essentials. Membership allows full use of the range, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. All money raised through membership goes back into the running of the facility. On the last weekend in May, the handgunners will be holding a provincial event and then starting June 26 for one week, the Black Powder Club will be hosting a Rendezvous with shooters coming from Western Canada and the Western United States. The Fort McMurray Mantas Swim Club offers both pre-competitive and competitive swim programs for Fort McMurray youth. The promotion of speed, stamina, sportsmanship and team play in lacrosse provides excellent cross training for other sports like hockey, basketball and soccer. Lacrosse is open to anyone from age 5 21. All divisions are open to both male and female players and you do not need to have previous experience to participate. The formal season runs from April to July with tournaments and league play. Dropins will occur through the winter for fun and conditioning. Watch for introductory clinics coming to the schools. Ringette is a team participation sport which encourages physical, mental and social development of individual participants along with sportsmanship and personal excellence. It is very fast and exciting. Boys and girls can begin playing Ringette as young as 5 years of age. No skating experience is required. The Fort McMurray Ringette Association is hosting the following events: 2011 Summer Camp: August 22 26, 2011at MacDonald Island Park Registration forms are available on our website or at Sports Wise. Come Try It Event: September 10, 2011 from 2:00 4:00 pm at MacDonald Island Park Registration Fees: $150.00 for first time players / full time goalies. Early registration cutoff for returning players is July 15, 2011. Anyone from age 14 to 80+ can enjoy the cardiovascular, flexibility, and muscle strengthening benefits that the sport of rowing provides. Experienced or new, individual or team, all rowers are welcome! You must, however, know how to swim. The Learn to Row program starts rowers on the Snye in larger boats, and builds each person s skill level at their own pace. The goal is to provide each rower with enough skill and confidence to row on the Clearwater River. Our outdoor season begins around the May long weekend and runs through to October. Spring & Summer 2011 RMWB Fort McMurray Running Club The Fort McMurray Running Club, established in 1983, is a not-for-profit group open to runners, family and friends, and all those interested in the promotion of a healthy, active lifestyle in Fort McMurray and area. We organize running events from 3km to 50km in length and provide volunteer support, equipment and logistic support for charitable walk/run events. Membership is free, and anyone may join by registering in one of our events as a participant or volunteer.
