Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi Strategic Plan 2014-2017

Mission The Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi leads the fight to stop seizures and SUDEP, find a cure, and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy through efforts including education, advocacy and research to accelerate ideas into therapies.

Strategy 1: Accelerate Innovative Therapies and Research EFM PAB to develop statewide partnerships on Therapies and Research.

Strategy 2: Empower Individuals and Families through Education, Awareness and Community Service & Support Objective: Education Priority Activities: Enhance our digital platform including online web, mobile and social media resources and tools to increase reach and educate targeted audiences. Build partnerships with professional organizations and publications to foster the exchange of relevant and cutting edge information. Ensure consistency and accuracy of information throughout the state and our community.

Strategy 2: Empower Individuals and Families through Education, Awareness and Community Service & Support Objective: Awareness Priority Activities: Develop comprehensive public awareness campaigns and messaging to elevate the visibility of epilepsy and the Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi's mission and vision. Expand the outreach and awareness of the Foundation s education, advocacy and support services to increase the number of people served across the state.

Continue Strategic Objective: Statewide Epilepsy Awareness Mobs (walks) Host 4 5 Epilepsy Awareness Mobs across the state such as: Oxford Tupelo Hattiesburg Ms. Gulf Coast Meridian Have motivational local speaker speak at each mob to be encouraging.

Strategy 2: Empower Individuals and Families through Education, Awareness and Community Service & Support Objective: Services and Support Establish coordinated statewide policy priorities and mobilize advocates regarding public health, access to care, and regulatory issues pertaining to epilepsy. Create structures through which individuals can come together to raise awareness, raise funds and provide mentoring and other service to the community.

Strategic Objective: Improve and expand relationships with the medical community Meet with a new medical group quarterly or biannually by providing lunch and talking with staff. Discuss with doctors and nurses what material would be most helpful to them to include in a new patient packet. Create dialogue with these offices on what we can do to offer them and patients support. Implement a How can we help you? attitude to the doctors so they know we are there as support

Strategic Objective: Create 2 types of new patients packets (1 for adults & 1 for children) that the medical team can give out to new patients. Create quick access to the foundation through the care packets. Make them want to contact us with their questions to ease load of healthcare provider. Advertise our programs & services. Use marketing tools such as magnets,etc. Advertise we will send a free medical alert bracelet ASAP. The kids bags will have info. for parents (like free school presentations), coloring books for kids, etc.

Strategic Objective: Use a 3-prong approach to increase technological capabilities & EFM online presence.

Strategy 3: Grow Stronger Financial Foundation and Network Strategic Objective: Build a mission driven culture that maximizes collaborative fundraising and partnerships to allow us to grow our capacity to better serve our community. Priority Activities: Create coordinate, incentivized and unified donor development statewide. Provide Board of Directors, staff and volunteers with the necessary resources and incentives to implement a seamless integration of all aspects of fundraising, including consistent donor communication, cultivation, acquisition and stewardship practices. Build a comprehensive statewide strategy to excite donors about the future of the new treatments, research and the Foundation.
