Come along and join us for an afternoon of delightful music and fun. Guest Artist for this Sunday will be the very talented Amy Ross from Maryborough.

President s Report G Day Our first of the year performance on Australia Day was a great success with over 80 people attending. Considering the diverse range of entertainment offered elsewhere on the same day, we did very well. Heather a visitor from Maroochy club played with the band and also did some solos. We hear that there will be members from Maroochy attending this month and we look forward to welcoming them. This month we have a young 15 year old guest artist from Maryborough, Amy Ross. We met Amy on our outback tour last year as her Dad Greg Ross organized the bus trip and tour. Amy released her first CD My Country Ride at age 14 she first started singing at age 7 and she says she always knew that she would try her hardest to get as far as she could with her singing and it has been a dream of hers to make her own CD I am sure you will enjoy listening to this talented young lady.. Our singers are practicing to perform with new songs and the band is gearing up for another great musical afternoon. Looking forward to seeing you all. Also we must thank Bull Ant Designs for the T shirt donation. The continued support of our valued members in helping us to fundraise for our local community is much appreciated IRENE O KEEFE, TREASURER Secretary s Report. Welcome to Cool Country News for another month. The last month has gone so quickly but there is a reason. It s February. The January concert was a great success and all our singers performed wonderfully on the day. Nearly of them sang at least one Aussie song. Considering the competition we had from so many Australia Day events around the Bay, we were very happy with our near capacity crowd. Our numbers are steadily increasing and it is wonderful to see younger members joining the club. If you would like to discuss membership and would like a form, you will find me at the Cool Country Cantina selling tea, biscuits and sausages on February Open Day. Sorry I won t be for the March Open day as I am going travelling again. Beware the Ides of March and Happy St Patricks Day. Jenny Kelly Secretary Cool Country

OPEN DAY PERFORMANCE On Sunday 26 th of January Cool Country Music Club held its usual end of the month Performance Day. It was of course also AUSTRALIA DAY. A great day was had by all. Our enthusiastic club members and our guests were well prepared with their great Australian Songs. There were hats with corks getting in the way and more Jackie Howe singlets than would usually be in view. Our members were in exceptionally good voice on the day, despite some hick ups at the last practise night. A deal of thanks also must go to David and Pat Cork, Jim Kelly, Jim Fowler and Ron and to all of those who assisted in setting up after our last start due to the Australia day Ceremonies. One of our up and coming singers turned in a good performance despite some early nerves. Robyn Jones well done! There was also a lovely LADY who graced us with his/her presence for a very rare performance and this added greatly to the day s merriment. We thank Bill perhaps for this. There was also a guest appearance by the lovely Heather from the North Coast who play her wonderful accordion for our enjoyment. It all added up to be one superb show. The Hervey Bay Cool Country Club is still going strong. Every Performance Day, people are needed to work on the door selling tickets or in the kitchen making tea and coffee. YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU. If only for an hour once a month, every little bit does really help to keep us all going. PLEASE help SPOTLIGHT MEMBERS ON This week the spotlight falls on young Frederic Harrop Our club members are a large group of people who possess many skills and talents and our

Fred is definitely no exception. I have only known him as Fred who plays guitar in the band but after asking only a few questions I have discovered a man of vast experiences and multiple talents. Frederic is most recently a published author. His recently published work is titled 10-4 And I m Gone. Frederic was born in 1940 in New Zealand in the small town of Taihope on the south island. Fred always had a great appreciation of music from a young age. Fred attended the local primary and high school. He then went on to do a five year apprenticeship with Ford. Music was put on hold for a few years. In 1962 Frederic married and had four children. He now has five much loved grandchildren. Travelling is another one of Frederic s passions. He has travelled extensively in both the United Kingdom and the United States. He drove trucks and toured with his friend Mike through all forty eight states and covered over 1.3 million miles. This vast experience may just have added some inspiration for his newly published work. They visited everywhere from Graceland to Nashville. Playing and singing as they drove from state to state. I am sure that his rich and varied life have added much spice to his recently published work. Why not check out his book called 10-4 And I m Gone Frederic has made the most of his love of music since moving to the Bay in 2009. He has played with many music groups and individuals here and overseas. His firm friendship and common interests with Frederich Troughton formed the duo called Two of a Kind. They have performed at many venues around the Bay. Fred has performed with the best and we are privileged to have him play for us at Cool Country. Frederic Harrop is a much appreciated member of Cool Country Music Club of Hervey Bay.

Happy Birthday to all celebrating in March. He has received many awards for his skills of song writing as well as singing. These days conservation issues have been even more famous. John is not only an artist of unbelievable musical poetry but also a man of integrity. He has always stood firm to his own convictions, regardless of the outcomes. He is truly proud of his country and stands and s ings tall with each note. John Williamson is without question an Australian Icon. His songs and his music make us all proud to be Australian.
