What is INVISALIGN? The Invisalign System is a virtually invisible treatment that uses an innovative approach to effectively straighten teeth. Invisalign treatment uses a series of custom-made removable aligners with unique SmartForce technology that gradually moves your teeth to the ideal position. It s extremely popular among adult patients because the appliance is clear and virtually nonobtrusive during normal daily life. Invisalign can also be removed for eating and cleaning teeth. - Dr David Vautin Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners over a specified treatment plan. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move little by little, week by week until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your dental provider. The Invisalign System is a comfortable, predictable and virtually invisible treatment to effectively straighten your teeth without interfering with your lifestyle, so you don t have to put it off any longer. 4

What to expect What your treatment plan will look like 01 Step 1 - Initial consultation Initially, your Invisalign-trained orthodontist will take photos, X-rays, and digital scans or a dental impression to help create your treatment plan. 02 Step 2 - Building the treatment plan The maker of Invisalign clear aligners will then use these records, along with the treatment prescribed by your doctor to create a customised 3D treatment plan just for you. With the treatment plan, you ll be able to see the final position your teeth are predicted to reach after treatment. This treatment plan is used to develop your customised aligners and also estimate the likely length of your treatment. 03 Step 3 - Your customised aligners The customised aligners will be manufactured and shipped to your orthodontist s office. 6
What to expect What your treatment plan will look like 04 Step 4 - Initial consultation Your series of custom-made aligners will be given to you (typically 3-4 sets at a time) for you to wear everyday and change them at home every 2 weeks. 05 Step 5 - Treatment and progession You ll be visiting your Invisalign-trained doctor approximately every 6-8 weeks to monitor the progress of your treatment and receive the next series of aligners. 06 Step 6 - Post-treatment and retainers After you ve finished your Invisalign aligner treatment, you may need to use retainers to help make sure the new position of your teeth is maintained. Widely spaced teeth The opposite of overcrowded teeth, widely spaced teeth occur when you have extra space within your jaw due to small-sized teeth, abnormal growth of the jawbones, genetics, missing teeth, and/or tongue protrusion. Crossbite This occurs when the upper and lower jaws are misaligned. Overbite This occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth.
