Information Tent Volunteer Information What does Attitude is Everything do? Attitude is Everything is a charity that works with music venues, clubs and festivals across the U.K. to improve Deaf and disabled people's access to live music. Every year, we run Information Tents for Deaf and disabled customers at festivals with the help of volunteers. When can I volunteer? This year, we are taking volunteers to run Information Tents at 3 festivals in 2017: Latitude (Wed 12th July Mon 17th July) Reading (Wed 23rd August Mon 28th August) Leeds (Wed 23rd August Mon 28th August) We are working in partnership with Festival Republic deliver this project.

Job Role Accessible Campsites All of the festivals above have Accessible Campsites. These areas are closest to the arenas, have wheelchair accessible toilets and showers, and have additional facilities such as charging points for powered chairs and information tents. Information Tents Each Accessible Campsite has an Information Tent, which is managed by Information Tent volunteers. These tents provide the following: Tasks Information about the festival i.e. timetable of acts and location of accessible facilities such as viewing platforms, lowered bars, hearing loops and toilets. Attitude is Everything information and merchandise such as T-Shirts and Badges. Powered-wheelchair charging points. The basic tasks carried out by Information Tent volunteers are: giving information to customers decorating and maintaining the Information Tent giving out leaflet and feedback forms being on hand in the campsite in case customers need assistance helping to sell Attitude is Everything merchandise We recognise that some jobs might be more or less accessible to different people, so we ensure that this is taken into account when the team splits up different tasks. 2

Toilets, showers, litter and security Attitude is Everything volunteers are not responsible for cleaning or maintaining campsite toilets or showers. You may be asked to assist with occasional litter-picks if obstructions around the campsite are caused. However, Attitude is Everything volunteers are not responsible for general litter-picking during the Festival. Attitude is Everything volunteers are not responsible for campsite security. Arrival and Shifts Wednesday arrival Volunteers need to arrive on site on Wednesday afternoon/evening, to be on hand all day on Thursday. Thursday You will be required to be on hand throughout the day until approx. 8pm as people arrive. Tasks: Set out the site ready for campers. Set up the Information Tent. Assist people to unload cars and carry kit into the Accessible Campsite. Assist people in pitching tents. Give out information about the Festival. Make people feel welcome! Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2 x 5 hour shifts (9am 2pm or 2pm 7pm) with one day off. Shifts are allocated on the Wednesday by the Attitude is Everything manager on site. 3

Access Requirements If you have any specific access requirements for volunteering, please list them in your application. Training No training is required for volunteer Information Tent Stewards. Detailed briefings will be given on site by an Attitude is Everything manager. The qualities we need from you Friendly Calm Confident to meet to new people Comfortable around people who might be drinking alcohol Punctual and committed to working allocated shifts Able to adapt to new situations and environments Prepared for different weather conditions Open-minded about different lifestyles We welcome volunteers who make use of communication aids and interpreters. What we offer to volunteers One free wristband to attend the festival. A space in the Accessible Campsite. Note: there is very limited space for people to bring camper vans and caravans on the festival sites please contact us if this is what you require. An additional free wristband for a PA if you require one in order to volunteer. 6 per day worked towards a meal cost (plus 6 for a PA if you have one) paid after the festival. Travel costs of getting to and from the festival reasonable costs will only be covered subject to prior discussion with Attitude is Everything s Festival Project Manager. 4

Personal Assistants Please note: Attitude is Everything is not able to provide Personal Assistants (PAs) for volunteers - it is the responsibility of the volunteer to source an appropriate person who is aged 18+. We are not able to fund the costs of Personal Assistants but will cover the same expenses as we do for volunteers. The role of your PA at these festivals will include any and all support you require either on shift or during your free time. There will be no other assistance available during the festival so please be sure your PA is committed, reliable, and is willing and able to undertake all possible tasks that you require. If you are unable to do your shift for any reason, your PA may be asked to cover for you. If you require a PA, but for any reason they drop out before the festival, we may have to ask you to forfeit your place if you are unable to find a replacement. Access to Viewing Platforms / Toilet Pass If you would need access to these during your free time at the festival, we can book you a viewing platform wristband that comes with a lanyard to be worn by a personal assistant or companion. If you just want to use the toilets but not the platforms, we can book you a toilet pass to grant access. Important information about festivals In order for you to make an informed decision about volunteering, it is important to highlight that: These festivals are very large and become extremely crowded and noisy. There is every possibility of rain so there could be thick mud around the site. It goes without saying that this might restrict movement of some disabled people - in fact it often restricts movement of everyone! If it is fine weather, then there are large areas which turn into dust bowls and there is not much shade. Please be prepared for all eventualities when applying. Please also consider carefully if you will need to bring along a personal assistant (PA) for your own access requirements. 5
