PRINCIPAL /REGISTERED CLINICAL Purpose of the role : The provision of effective and dynamic clinical and professional leadership for Clinical Psychologists, Psychologists and Psychology interns KEY TASKS Establish and implement an effective and sustainable professional structure for psychologists Facilitate the establishment and monitoring of accepted best practice Provide psychologist consultancy to psychologists, team and locality managers EXPECTED OUTCOMES In conjunction with the MHSG Psychology Leader facilitate: Recruitment and retention strategy Supervision, support, resource and professional development needs Establishment and monitoring of accepted best practice Maintain procedures relevant to Psychology professional requirements Roles and responsibilities Psychologists In conjunction with the MHSG Psychology Leader: Ensure leadership for psychology service development and standards of practice Ensure DHB Core Competencies (see Apex Collective Agreement) for Psychologists are established and implemented Ensure systems that review and monitor professional practice Establish effective networks for Psychologists that ensure effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery, professional accountability and exchange of ideas and resources Access and disseminate relevant ideas and resources and information Ensure appropriate clinical supervision structures are in place Contribute to PDR performance review and appraisals processes for individuals Ensure that Job Descriptions are complied with to ensure alignment of psychologist performance and roles with identified client needs In conjunction with the MHSG Psychology Leader: Maintain active communication with teams, clarifying and advocating for psychologist roles and practice Take part in interview panels or delegate as appropriate to provide profession specific input and recommendations Act as a psychology resource person to teams Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 2

PRINCIPAL /REGISTERED CLINICAL PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: PRINCIPAL PSYCHOLGIST/REGISTERED CLINICAL Qualification Minimum Postgraduate qualifications in clinical psychology (e.g. PGDipClinPsych, DClinPsych, MClinPsych or equivalent) or forensic psychology Registration with the NZ Psychology Board as a Registered Psychologist with a Clinical Scope of Practice Preferred PhD or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Forensic Psychology Postgraduate studies or degree in forensic mental health or forensic psychology Current Practising Certificate Computer skills including word processing Experience Holds a current NZ Drivers Licence Extensive experience working in one or variety of mental health and forensic area Should be at consultant or equivalent level in their profession and be recognized as an advanced practitioner in mental health profession (5 to 8 years practical experience plus degree) Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Reads and critiques in their professional area and demonstrates an enjoyment of learning Recognized and/or acknowledged by colleagues for their professional demeanor and leadership qualities Knowledge of National Quality Standards Knowledge and understanding of medico/legal and ethical resp0nsibilites Knowledge & behavior aligned to Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 5
