DINNER SPEAKER Mr. Sy Gottlieb, CPCM Fellow Retired Rockwell International and Hughes Aircraft Company Everyone who has ever been connected with NCMA is aware who Sy Gottlieb is and what he has accomplished. Sy was one of the founding members of NCMA back in the sixties and the first Executive Director as well as publisher and editor of the national newsletter and magazine. He earned CPCM status in 1975, is a Fellow, received the Charles A Dana Award and an Honorary Life Member award. Through all his 50 years of membership, Sy has dedicated himself to promoting NCMA and the improvement of the procurement process, helping many contract administrators along the way. His guidance and friendship have been exended to many of us and is much appreciated. Sy is an Aeronautical Engineer, NYU 1942 and Juris Doctor, Temple University 1949. Sy was also employed for many years as Legal Counsel in the corporate offices of Rockwell International and Hughes Aircraft Company. It will be worth your while to come hear his presentation including stories of his experiences in the contracting field. Are you receiving your NCMA Monthly Magazine? If you have not received your monthly NCMA magazine recently, this may be because your membership has expired. You can extend your membership online at: http://crmportal.ncmahq.org/login/login.aspx?returnurl=%2fmemberdr%2fmembershiprenewa l.aspx%3fnavitemnumber%3d3946&navitemnumber=3946 Page 2 BEACHCOMBER Volume 30, Issue 5

PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Bill Vargo Hello Everyone! In addition to our usual Christmas festivities this month, we have a very special dinner speaker. Mr. Sy Gottlieb will speak to us on his career within NCMA and the contracting profession. Sy was a founding member of NCMA and was one of the first three members awarded Fellow status. He recently received his fifty-year NCMA membership pin. Please take advantage of this rare opportunity to hear Sy speak. In addition to Sy, we will keep up our tradition of caroling. Bernard Hartmann will once again lead us through the songs, so start doing your vocal exercises. As stated before, NCMA is a valuable source of job opportunities. I was contacted again this week by a recruiter looking for an experienced contract administrator. To see this, and other current opportunities in the contracts and related fields, check out the Beach Cities website. Please join us in closing out this year and welcoming in the holidays. I look forward to seeing you at our December dinner meeting. Sincerely, Volume 30, Issue 5 Page 3
