You will learn techniques to orient, modify and progress clientele with a variety of functional problems. We will review water specific functional fitness exercise inventory and training techniques to help improve individual s independence with activities of daily living. Registration fee includes: Senior s Instructor Manual with study guide questions and answers (334 pages), DVD009, 8 hours training & certification (practical & theory). If you are taking a Certification Course, you may attend Sunday s workshops free of charge! Practical evaluations will be held at the end of the day on Sunday (5:00-6:00PM) OR you may submit a home VHS video OR book a date with Julie Scratch. You will have up to six months to submit the theory & practical exam. All theory exams are take home. If you want to take the Saturday only for Continuing Education Credits - you can pay a $50.00 lesser fee & there is no exam! This Fundamental Instructor Training Program will provide you with a complete overview of how to become a leader of a motivational & enjoyable group exercise program. You will experience both theory (classroom) and practical (pool) applications to build a well-balanced program. NO Experience necessary just a love of the water and fitness. Everyone wants abdominals of steel, but is the instructor choosing the best exercises? Is the participant performing it correctly? Learn exercises and techniques to wear your six-pack as a corset. 10:45 12:15 pm (S) SHALLOW WATER TRAINING Make the most of your movements! Learn how to design a shallow water class using working positions to vary impact and intensity. Hundreds of movement variations and techniques provide multi-level options and opportunities for your participants and help keep your programs innovative. LUNCH - NETWORKING & SHOPPING 12:15-1:30 PM 1:30-2:45 pm (L) HIPS, KNEES, BACK PROBLEMS Review common hip conditions such as the Total Hip Replacement and Osteoarthritis. Review common knee conditions such as Total Knee Replacements and Osteoarthritis. Understand why back problems affect 80 percent of the population at one time or another. Examine how these common conditions may be effectively integrated into water programming. 2:45 4:00 pm (L/S) SHAPE UP & WATER TRAIN Let s not let them float. This workshop will establish some strategies in exercise design to maximize weight loss and programming for the obese clientele specific to water fitness. This shallow water program will demonstrate an inventory of calorie burning exercises especially for clients with an excess of 30% or more body fat. If you dont know your muscles or you need some brushing up on the foundation of exercise science this is the class for you! 10:45 12:15 pm (S) MUSCLE TARGETING Innovative ideas on how to target and progress your exercise inventory for flexibility and muscular conditioning. Understand how to effectively optimize your target goals to help your clients gain the most out of their programs. Applied to either shallow and/or deep-water depths, a complete exercise inventory without equipment will be discussed. Sit, stand, pretzel, lying down, or working with a partner, noodling may yield excellent balance and stabilization training. Train for cardiovascular, flexibility, muscular strength, and endurance with a cost effective tool. Suitable for all ages - from kids to the super athlete. 2:45 4:00 pm (S) CARDIO COMBO S Learn how to create and develop variations and combinations to keep your classes energized while building cardiovascular endurance. Help your students with co-ordination and agility with a variety of new moves. We will examine how water moves need to be carefully blended to the water so that intensity needs are met for all fitness levels.

Optimize the environment by managing your program s activities and encouraging the participants to dress to stay warm (i.e., add a thermal vest or polyester/suplex shirt, tights or short pants). This will help them to stay comfortable in the water so that they may enjoy and, more importantly, return to a program. Vests should fit snug so that it is your second skin. You should get it so that you fit slightly tighter than your chest as the hydrostatic pressure of the water shrinks you. Sizing is unisex. This is a great product to help you stay warm in a cooler pool.
