Becoming a Sponsor Orlando February 24, 2018

Mission Statement As a registered 501(c)3 organization, the mission of Head for the Cure is to raise awareness and funding to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. how your organization could be a part of these amazing events. Organizational Summary Head for the Cure will host its inaugural year in Orlando for the 1st annual 5K Run/Walk raising awareness and funding for the fight against brain cancer. We partner with Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center to produce one of the largest brain cancer fundraiser in Orlando.. We plan to make February 24, 2018 a beautiful day of hope, celebration, and impact for people affected by brain cancer. Sponsors play a vital role in the effort. All funds directly support research through our local medical partner and a national consortium of doctors and centers. Brain cancer remains a deadly and under researched disease, so every contribution matters. As a sponsor, you will be a powerful and visible ally to the brain cancer community, which includes not just patients and caregivers, but large groups of friends, families, and supporters. This packet explores The keys to a Head for the Cure event are community engagement and upbeat energy. So our most important partners are local doctors, grassroots team organizers, and sponsors. Sponsors matter not only for the impact and scale they bring, but also for the connections to the community we share. We do all we can to ensure that attendees know who makes this possible, with sponsor recognition on t-shirts, signage, online, social media and anywhere else we can. Often sponsors bring a tent or even a team to events, finding Head for the Cure a fun place to connect with the public. We re making a difference, too. Over the last 15 years, Head for the Cure has grossed nearly $10 million to brain cancer research causes. At each event, our funds benefit a local beneficiary, and we are so honored to partner with Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center. In addition, funds also benefit our primary research partner, the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC). The BTTC is a group of 23 leading clinics, including Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center, designing and carrying out new treatments for brain tumors, led by Dr. Mark Gilbert at the National Cancer Institute s Center for Cancer research. The BTTC facilitates teamwork between top brain cancer clinics so better treatments can be developed faster. Join our effort as a sponsor and be a part of the team that s helping to defeat brain cancer step by step.

Sponsorship Benefits In addition to generating brand loyalty within target audiences, your company s sponsorship of the Head for the Cure 5K Run/Walk will: Associate your business with a positive event in the Orlando local community. Engage and motivate employees as participants through free entries and discounts provided as part of your sponsorship level. Many companies use the event as a team building exercise or company-wide volunteering opportunity. Provide increased visibility to your local community as a supporter of brain cancer research and programming.. Place your products directly into the hands of engaged consumers and drive sales to your company..

ABOUT HEAD FOR THE CURE FOUNDATION The Head for the Cure Foundation is committed to raising awareness and funds for the fight against brain cancer. Our mission is to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. The National Brain Tumor Society estimates 190,000 men, women and children in the U.S. are diagnosed each year with a primary or metastasized brain tumor, equating to more than 14 per 10,000 persons. THE INSPIRATION Kansas City native Chris Anthony was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) brain tumor in October 2000 at age 34. A husband, father, son and brother, he fought the disease with dignity, grace and courage. An avid runner with an unmatched competitive spirit, Chris had the idea to start a run to raise money and awareness for brain cancer. After his death, Chris family, led by brother Matt, took on the fight in his honor. The first Head for the Cure 5K event was conducted in the Kansas City Metro area in October 2003 and raised approximately $18K. By 2006, this 5K event had raised approximately $150K and the Head for the Cure Foundation was formally established. THE BENEFICIARY The primary beneficiary of the Head for the Cure Foundation is the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC), an organization founded by Chris neuro-oncologist and Head for the Cure partner Dr. Mark Gilbert of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). THE BTTC The BTTC, comprised of highly respected and dedicated physicians in a network of more than 23 renowned, NCI-accredited medical centers, has experienced unparalleled advancements in the research of alternative treatments of malignant brain tumors. Currently, clinical trials are being conducted to learn of promising advances to cancer prevention, diagnosis and safe and e ective treatments. THE RESULTS In 2016, nearly $1.8 million was generated by 5K Run/Walk events in 18 markets, and other financial contributions. To date, the organization has raised nearly $10 million to support brain cancer research. THE MOVEMENT 5K Run/Walk events continue to drive Head for the Cure fundraising. Approximately 16,000 runners/walkers participated in events in 2016. Growth has continued in 2017 and 2018 with 22 events planned and more pending confirmation. 2018 EVENTS Charleston, SC Orlando, FL Central Texas (Austin) Columbus, OH Bike Ride KC Mid-Missouri (Columbia) North Texas (Dallas) Des Moines, IA Lawrence, KS New York, NY St. Louis, MO Wichita, KS Seattle, WA Omaha, NE Kansas City, MO NC Triangle (Chapel Hill) Detroit, MI San Antonio, TX Cleveland, OH Houston, TX Chicago, IL MORE INFORMATION: www.headforthecure.org
