Overview This course will provide up-to-date information about neurologic disorders commonly encountered by the medical practitioner. The schedule provides liberal time for questions and discussion. During the lunch hour, faculty members will be present at tables placed at the perimeter of the room. Faculty will be available to answer questions concerning abnormal findings on neuro-radiological examinations, epilepsy, stroke, diabetic and other neuropathies, dizziness, and most other topics addressed during our conference. We are doing this to ensure that our audience can have abundant time for questions and discussion. Objectives At the conclusion of the program, those who have attended should be able to understand: > Secondary stroke prevention and strategies for dealing with asymptomatic carotid stenosis > The latest information about the evaluation and treatment of headache > The new definition of epilepsy and how this might affect reporting for driving > Encephalopathy with an emphasis on drug-induced encephalopathies > The initial approach to the patient with Parkinsonian syndromes and understand how to manage constipation and other dysautonomias in Parkinsonism > How to diagnose and treat tremor > The initial approach to the patient with concussion > The evaluation of the patient presenting with dementing type of illnesses and understand how to manage behavioral abnormalities such as agitation and insomnia > The spectrum of diabetic neuropathy and the evaluation of other neuropathies > The spectrum of statin myopathy Who Should Attend This course is designed for internists, family practitioners, neurologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other interested health care providers. 3

Continuing Education Credit The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
