Statement of Need: Primary care physicians and clinicians are not always current on recent advances, breakthroughs, treatments and research surrounding neurological diseases, particularly those which are not as commonly seen, such as autoimmune disease. This impacts the implementation of newer practice strategies and the standard of care being provided in practice. This CME activity will provide physicians and clinicians with a comprehensive overview of the latest advances in an array of neurological diseases. Relevant guidelines and tools to appropriately assess and treat patients with neurological dysfunction will be reviewed and discussed. This will enable providers to integrate the latest clinical approaches into everyday practice and also improve their ability to determine when it is appropriate to refer to a specialist, leading to improved patient outcomes. Program Objectives: All Northwell Health CME activities are intended to improve patient care, safety and outcomes. At the conclusion of this conference participants should be able to: 1. Apply new concepts and tools in the evaluation of neurological diseases. 2. Integrate newer and more advanced treatment methods for neurological diseases into clinical practice setting. 3. Establish a broad differential diagnosis framework for patients presenting with a neurological complaint and employ best practices for treatment. 4. Identify conditions that physicians and clinical care providers do not often treat, and recognize when appropriate to refer patients to a specialist. Target Audience: Primary Care Physicians, Internists, Hospitalists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Physical Therapists. CME Accreditation: Northwell Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation: Northwell Health designates this live educational activity for 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
