Introduction ASM34 Administer Medication to Individuals and Monitor the Effects This unit is a competence based unit within the Level 2 and 3 Health and Social Care Diploma. Competence based units require you to demonstrate your ability to administer medication to individuals via an observation of your practice by a qualified assessor. You will also be required to demonstrate your knowledge of how you met the requirements. A popular way of assessing your knowledge is via written questions. The elearning course you have completed covered all of the knowledge required for this unit. However, you will need to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding by completing the questions in this pack. 5.3 Describe how you would report any immediate problems with the administration of medication.

5.4 Explain how you monitored the individual s condition throughout and what effects you were/are looking out for. Explain the action you would take if there were adverse effects.

5.5 Explain why it is necessary to confirm the individual actually takes the medication and does not pass the medication to others.

5.7 Describe how you dispose of out of date and part used medication in accordance with legal and organisational requirements.

When administering medication to an individual, you should be monitoring for adverse effects. 5.3 Explain how you monitor the individual s condition during the medication administration process, and describe what adverse effects you are looking out for. 4.3 Explain the action you would take if there were any adverse effects.
