PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

WHO WE ARE Just as President Kennedy rallied the nation to dream big and set audacious goals 50 years ago, The Kennedy Forum is working toward lasting change in the way mental health and addictions are considered and treated. Our vision is a future where all persons are treated with dignity and receive the person-centered mental and physical care and support they need to thrive and achieve their goals; with a health system that fully recognizes that the brain is part of the body. To do this, we are working to break the silence and end the stigma against mental health and substance use disorders. We are focused on changing both attitudes and practice. We stand on the doorstep to make momentous progress in advancing the cause of this new civil rights struggle started by the work of President Kennedy over 50 years ago Patrick J. Kennedy A ROADMAP TO EQUALITY > End Discrimination and Stigma > Fully Implement Mental Health Parity Laws > Deliver Better Outcomes with Integrated, Coordinated, Quality Care > Advance Prevention and Early Childhood Brain Health > Leverage New Technology 2 thekennedyforumillinois.org

WORK & IMPACT STATE POLICY LEADERSHIP CENTER The Kennedy Forum Illinois provides state and local policymakers, advocates, business leaders and the public with the information necessary to make informed policy decisions and investments in mental health and substance use disorder prevention and treatment. We help align best practices with the best possible policies and work with advocacy groups, the public officials and policymakers from both sides of the aisle to advance solutions that work for children, families, taxpayers and state governments. Mental health and addiction prevention and treatment is not a partisan issue so we collaborate with a diverse and wide range of stakeholders to help craft policy recommendations that provide lasting economic and social returns. Our objective is to serve as a resource to state policymakers and advocates- not just in Illinois, but all states. INVESTMENT AND VISIBILITY OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR EACH OF THESE INITIATIVES. PLEASE INQUIRE FOR MORE INFORMATION. EQUAL ACCESS TO CARE Americans with behavioral health conditions often have more difficulty getting the treatment and services they need when compared to individuals seeking other medical care. Even Americans with health insurance face these challenges. The Kennedy Forum is working to ensure mental health and addiction parity laws at the federal and state level are fully implemented and that consumers know their rights and have the resources they need to ask for the treatment and services that are guaranteed under the law. MENTAL HEALTH EMERGENCY RESPONSE Gaps in first responders capacity to effectively interact with individuals with mental illness have resulted in tragic loss of life and unnecessary incarceration, in Chicago and across the nation. The Kennedy Forum has stepped up to assist the City of Chicago, bringing together local and national expertise to implement improvements in training, data systems, management, treatment options and public awareness and engaging the community in civic dialogue to combat stigma and increase awareness about how to access emergency services. CARE COORDINATION AND QUALITY The Kennedy Forum is working to advance evidence-based integration models that have been proven to achieve the Triple Aim of health care reform: better patient outcomes, increased patient and provider satisfaction, and a lowering of health care costs. At the same time, we are advancing significant improvements in the quality of mental health care and patient outcomes. THE KENNEDY FORUM 7

WORK & IMPACT COMMUNITY AND MEDIA ENGAGEMENT TO COMBAT STIGMA Through innovative partnerships with the Chamber of Commerce, the Chicago Community Trust, The American Bar Association, The Archdiocese of Chicago and others, we have engaged thousands in community conversations, workshops, and discussions with experts and persons with lived experience. PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION An estimated 100,000 adolescents and young adults in the United States experience first-episode psychosis each year, with a peak onset occurring between 15-25 years of age. The Kennedy Forum is committed to advancing prevention and early intervention in mental health. MONTHLY SPEAKER SERIES Our speaker series takes place the first Wednesday each month. Each month, we feature a different speaker who has a unique perspective about or experience with mental health and addiction issues. Upcoming speakers include Director of the World Series Chicago Cubs Mental Skills Program, Josh Lifrak and Gillian Flynn, New York Times bestselling author of Gone Girl, Dark Places, and Sharp Objects. INVESTMENT AND VISIBILITY OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR EACH OF THESE INITIATIVES.
