When Johnnie died in 2005, Rolling Stone Magazine writer David Fricke wrote Johnson went on to become the greatest sideman in rock & roll, at the very moment the music was being born. Was Johnson merely a sideman who played what Chuck Berry told him to play, or was he a melody maker who was ripped off because he didn t understand he could write music without putting it on a piece of paper? Johnnie Be Good is narrated by 5-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald. rock ROLL TRIVIA NIGHT EVENT OVERVIEW Purpose: To raise fund for post-production and legal work for Johnnie Be Good, a feature length documentary about the late Johnnie Johnson. The documentary is a project of filmmaker and journalist, Art Holliday, Time Code Films. Pianos for People is partnering with Art Holliday to promote and organize the event, and will be the beneficiary of 25% of the evening s proceeds. Both organizations have 501 c (3) status.
