4 AOSpine Advances Symposium Spinal Deformity Lucerne, Switzerland, May, 2012 Aim of the symposium The AOSpine Advances Symposium Spinal Deformity will elevate current concepts and principles to an advanced level and address controversial topics. New developments will be discussed by experts in their respective field. Target participants This course is targeted at surgeons with a minimum of 3 years of experience in deformity surgery, who are aiming to further improve their knowledge and/or specialization in the management of spinal deformities, both paediatric and adult. Outcomes After the Symposium, participants will be able to: Apply non operative treatment of scoliosis according to latest evidence Identify indications for anterior or posterior scoliosis surgery Outline indications and treatment modalities for adult and degenerative scoliosis Identify sagital imbalance and describe surgical treatment modalities Symposium description Spinal deformity management is rapidly changing. Novel approaches are gaining popularity before even hard evidence is available. During this symposium participants will have a chance to update their knowledge on several deformity related topics but also to interact with faculty on management of specific cases. The educational event will include lectures as well as case discussions. Interaction is encouraged so that all participants take home what is needed in keeping abreast of latest developments.
