Over the years it has evolved into an advocacy arm of Mothers In Crisis designed to empower and mobilize clients, organizations, and communities. 01/99 07/05 Florida Youth Substance Prevention Initiative Advisory Council Member- Attend Council meetings to help develop the State s Prevention Strategy under the direction of the Governor & the Office of Drug Control. 05/99 12/03 TheTallahassee/Leon County Anti-Drug Anti-Violence Alliance, (ADAVA) Founder- Provide coordination, facilitation and implementation of the anti-drug, anti-violence coalition designed to reduce the supply and demand of illegal drug use, abuse, and distribution as well as violence in our community. ADAVA implemented the Communities That Care initiative. 2002 2008 Community Neighborhood Renaissance Partnership, (CNRP) Member- CNRP is a neighborhood-planning program staffed by the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Department in partnership with the Providence Neighborhood Association & Mothers In Crisis, designed to coordinate the renaissance planning process in the Providence neighborhood. 2003-2005 Tallahassee Equity Action Ministry, (TEAM) Member- TEAM consists of 16 congregations working together to address root causes of our community s problems in order to build a better Tallahassee. The goal of TEAM is to go beyond charity and work towards institutional change & justice. 4

ACCOMPLISHMENTS Founded Mothers In Crisis in April of 1991 Ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in June 1996, Christian Victory Fellowship; Elder, Labor for the Harvest Church, 1997; & Pastor, Legacy Alliance Fellowship, 2001 Developed & Implemented Project T.R.A.I.N. in five elementary schools in 1994-2002 Developed & Implemented the Parenting Arts Project in1996 Wrote, Directed, & Appeared in several very effective local Public Service Announcements from 1995-2007 Developed & Implemented the Parents In Partnership Project in 1997-2005 Developed & Implemented the Kids In Partnership Project in 1997-2010 Implemented the Teens Against Teenage Sex and Drugs grant funded program- 2004-05 Implemented the Teens Taking Care of Business Abstinent State Grant funded project 2006-07 Developed and Implemented Women Helping Women Jail Outreach Project in Leon County Jail 2006-09 RECOGNITION & AWARDS Appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to serve on the Commission for Volunteerism for the State of Florida in 2005 Ms. Tompkins was named as a Tallahassee 33 Recipient in the Tallahassee Democrat in 2003 Ms. Tompkins received the Florida A&M University African American Heritage President s Award in 2003 Ms. Tompkins received the Martin Luther King Jr., Humanitarian Award from ECHO in 2002 Ms. Tompkins received the Woman of Courage Award from Tallahassee Community College in 2001 Mothers In Crisis Voted Organization of the Year 2001 Florida Alcohol & Drug Abuse Association Mothers In Crisis received 2 nd Place for the State of Florida in Intervention from the Dept. of Children & Families in 2001 Ms. Tompkins received the International Who s Who of Entrepreneurs award for the year 2000 Ms. Tompkins received the Certificate of Recognition for Distinguish Leadership Awards in 1995 & 1996 Ms. Tompkins received the Florida s Finest Certificate of Appreciation & telephone call from Governor Lawton Chiles in 1994 Feature articles were written about Mothers In Crisis in several local & state newspapers, journals, and publications throughout the years Numerous Civic & Sorority Organization Awards 5
