1st Annual UCLA State-of-the-Art in Neuro-Oncology Part 1 Primary Brain Tumors Saturday, August 22, 2015 Tamkin Auditorium Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Los Angeles, California

Course Description The Brain Tumor Center at UCLA presents its inaugural 2-parts comprehensive continuing medical education (CME) program that will provide updates on emergent diagnostic and treatment modalities for the management of Brain tumors from experts at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. The 1st part of this course will focus on the diagnosis and management of patients with Primary Brain Tumor and will feature faculty from Neurosurgery, Neuro-Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Neuroradiology, Neuropathology and Endocrinology. The program will provide didactic sessions on the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment of Primary Brain Tumors. Each tumor specific didactic session would then be followed by case-based presentations to demonstrate the multidisciplinary approach of a Brain Tumor Board to personalize care for patients with Primary Brain Tumors. This format will also encourage and ensure audience participation in discussion of the cases. The 2nd part of this course will focus on the diagnosis and management of patients with Metastatic Brain Tumors, which will occur later this year. Required CME on Pain Management and the Appropriate Treatment of the Terminally Ill Most California-licensed physicians are required to take, as a one-time requirement, 12 hours of CME on pain management and the appropriate care and treatment of the terminally ill. This course includes content that will satisfy up to one hour toward this requirement. Course Objectives At the conclusion of this course, participants should be better able to: Recommend the most recent diagnostic, surgical, and pathological advances in the evaluation of patients with brain tumors Understand standard and emerging treatments for patients with brain tumors and the molecular basis of these treatments Manage symptoms and complications in patients with brain tumors Target Audience This course is targeted towards Neurosurgeons, Medical Oncologists, Neurologists, Alliedhealth professionals, Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Oncology residents and fellows.
