Invisalign G4 FAQs General: 1. What are the next generation of SmartForce features and clinical innovations (Invisalign G4) and when will they become available? The next generation of SmartForce features, available November 14th 2011, are engineered to give you: Better clinical outcomes for open bite treatments Improved predictability for upper laterals Greater root tip control for canines and upper centrals 2. Where can I find information on the new clinical innovations and how can they benefit me and my practice? While the new and improved SmartForce features will automatically be available to use with ClinCheck 3.1, we strongly advise you to use our web-based training and animation to better understand how the new features can help you achieve the best results. For this and more information on the new innovations visit Invisalign Innovations or contact your Territory Manager. 3. Will there be any changes to the Invisalign treatment and retention options portfolio? Yes. Vivera retainers will be available to patients not previously treated with Invisalign (i.e. braces). Now you can help maintain the beautiful smiles you and your patient worked so hard to create, even if the patient was not treated with Invisalign. However, Vivera retainers for non-invisalign patients require a PVS impressions or I/O scan to be submitted with the order. 4. Where can I find all of the specifications of the new and enhanced features? You can find all of this information through the documents listed below: Invisalign G4 Sales Aid Invisalign G4 Webinar Invisalign G4 Animation Clinical Protocols (Prescribing Precision Cuts, Tooth Movement Assessment, Attachment Protocol) Treatment Options page in IDS 5. How can I know how many times I have changed the ClinCheck treatment plan without opening the ClinCheck software? With the new ClinCheck treatment plan counter you will be able to know how many times you changed the treatment plan directly from the Patient Page. Once the ClinCheck treatment plan is ready for your review in the Patient page, you will see a # sign with a number indicating how many ClinCheck treatment plans have been developed for this particular patient so far (i.e. treatment plan #2). 6. On the IDS homepage, is it possible to move the columns of the patients list overview? Yes, together with the possibility of organizing each column with ascending/descending order, it is also possible to drag the board of the chosen column to make it wider/smaller for a better overview. 7. Will Invisalign treatment/retention prices and applicable discounts change with the introduction of these new features? No, Vivera for non-invisalign patients is the same price and is entitled to the same discount level, where applicable, as Vivera for Invisalign patients.

Clinical: 1. How and why have the new features been developed? What kinds of research tools have been used? All software and clinical features go through rigorous tests and analysis before implementation to ensure we provide you with the best quality treatment and retention options. We use software to accurately simulate forces: Attachment designs can be tested in a virtual world to identify those with the correct force profile for the desired movement Force measurement apparatus (FMA): Mechanical device to measure the actual forces applied to the teeth Force measurements of all three force components and three rotational moments 2. What are SmartForce features? SmartForce features are attachments and aligner features that are: Engineered to deliver the force systems necessary to achieve predictable tooth movements Customized to each tooth using advanced virtual modeling, based on the width, long axis, and contour of the entire tooth Positioned precisely to deliver the proper forces while eliminating interferences Specific SmartForce features include: Optimized Attachments Power Ridge features Multi-Plane Movement feature Pressure Point 3. Why were the enhanced and new SmartForce features developed? What advantages does this offer me as a practitioner? To continue to improve and deliver predictable results. 4. What are the Optimized Root Control Attachments? With Invisalign G4, new Optimized Root Control Attachments provide greater mesial-distal root tip control. Forces applied to the active surface of the two buccal Optimized Attachments create a moment that is favorable for root movement. This feature is available for upper and lower canines and upper central incisors, and is applicable for space closure, mesial-distal root uprighting, and treatment of diastema. 5. What are Power Ridge features? The Power Ridge feature is an aligner feature that is engineered to apply lingual root torque. It is designed to deliver a favorable moment to force ratio (M/F) to accomplish incisor torque with lingual root movement. 6. What are Pressure Point features? A Pressure Point is an aligner feature placed on the lingual aspect of the aligner, and works in conjunction with a buccal Optimized Attachment to apply a second force for the control of multi-plane movements. The Pressure Point feature is automatically applied to control upper lateral incisors undergoing extrusion along with rotation and/or crown tip.

7. What is the multi-tooth approach for Open Bite Treatment? One of the new features is the multi-tooth approach for open bite treatment that is designed to improve clinical outcomes when treating anterior open bites. With Invisalign G4, optimized extrusion attachments extrude the four upper incisors as a unit, leveraging the posterior teeth as anchorage. Because the laterals and the central incisors require different activations for predictable extrusion, aligner activation for the 4 incisors is now individually adjusted to deliver sufficient extrusive force on each tooth to accomplish the movement. 8. What are Optimized Multi-Plane Movement features? Invisalign G4 introduces new Optimized Multi-Plane Movement features, designed to improve control of upper laterals requiring extrusion, along with rotation, and/or crown tip. The active surface of the buccal optimized attachment is oriented to deliver extrusive forces, while simultaneously rotating, and/or tipping the lateral. A Pressure Point on the lingual aspect of the aligner is positioned to apply a second force for control of the multi-plane movement. Customized for each movement, Optimized Multi-Plane Movement features are applicable to a wide range of lateral movements. 9. What happens if an Optimized Attachment de-bonds and is lost during treatment? If an attachment de-bonds during treatment and is lost, you must order an attachment template to re-bond the attachment or use the original template and cut it over the tooth in question; re-bonding it with the aligner will lose the activation. 10. If I need to order a mid-course correction (MCC), do I still have to remove the attachments before taking the impressions? When doing a MCC or Refinement, it is highly recommended that you remove conventional attachments prior to taking new impressions. However, with Optimized Attachments it is required that you remove the attachments prior to taking the new impressions so the activation can be built back into the new aligners. 11. Will the system warn me if a put attachments and Precision Cut features on the same tooth? Precision Cuts can coexist with Optimized Attachments for Rotation and Extrusion provided there is sufficient room. However, Precision Cuts cannot coexist with Optimized Root Control Attachments. 12. Can Precision Cuts be combined with conventional and/or Optimized Attachments? Yes, Precision Cuts can be combined with conventional attachments or with Optimized Attachments for Rotation and Extrusion provided there is sufficient room. However, Precision Cuts cannot be used with Optimized Root Control Attachments. 13. Can Precision Cuts be combined with Invisalign Teen's eruption features? No, Precision Cuts cannot coexist with Optimized Root Control Attachments or eruption features. Only fully erupted teeth can have Precision Cuts.

14. Why are you recommending that doctors wait until the initial ClinCheck treatment plan before they request Precision Cuts? By waiting until you've received the initial ClinCheck treatment plan, it allows you to better assess the potential options and trade-offs with Precision Cuts. If there are Optimized Root Control Attachments on the upper and/or lower canines, you will need to decide the treatment priority and/or possibly consider alternatives for sequencing the movements and/or which tooth and surface to place the cutout on. 15. Can I use the attachment drag-and-drop interface to position the attachments on a particular area of the tooth? No. The interface allows you to choose the type of attachment and the tooth, but not the placement on the tooth (other than buccal or lingual). The attachment will be placed in the center of the tooth unless you request an alternative placement via a comment to the technician. NOTE: For rectangular (CRT) attachments, you may also choose the size of the attachment. Once you've dragged the icon onto the tooth, just click the attachment and choose the desired size of 3mm, 4mm or 5mm.

Technical: 1. Is there a ClinCheck Glossary to help facilitate better communication between the Doctor and Costa Rica Technicians? Yes. Most of these materials can be found on IDS, ATI, and Webstore. Specifically, you can refer to materials such as: The Clinical Protocols document 10 Key Points for Effective ClinCheck Communications The Glossary of ClinCheck terms 2. Can I continue to use my current version of the ClinCheck software instead of upgrading to ClinCheck 3.1 software? It is possible, however you will not be able to review or approve Invisalign Teen or Invisalign Full treatments with Precision Cuts or Passive Aligners. You will also not be able to take advantage of any of our new and improved features. In these instances, you will be required to upgrade to the ClinCheck 3.1 software that became available on May 16th, 2011. 3. Why should I upgrade to ClinCheck 3.1 software? It supports all of the latest Invisalign G3 and Invisalign G4 features and improvements. New and Improved user friendly interface. 4. Is ClinCheck 3.1 software compatible with any other web browser than Internet Explorer? Not at this moment in time. However Align Technology is looking into making this a possibility in the future. 5. What is the 'Switch' button? Switch button is an upgrade functionality in the ClinCheck software. It allows you to upgrade from Invisalign Lite to an Invisalign Full or Teen treatment. This button can be found by opening the patient's ClinCheck treatment plan, click on the other options button. There, you will find the Switch button. If you click on the Switch button you are redirect to the IDS page to finalize the new prescription for Invisalign Full or Teen. 6. Am I required to install or update my software in order to see/use the new and improved features available November 14 th 2011? If you are using ClinCheck 3.1 software these updates will occur automatically. All other versions however, will not allow you to view the new and enhanced features. To take advantage of these you need to download the latest version of ClinCheck. You can download ClinCheck 3.1 by logging into IDS and clicking on the following:
