E-NEWSLETTER March 2015 2015 OUR 20 TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR OUR ACHIEVEMENTS THIS MONTH Since April 2014 we have helped over 200 families with children under 5 We have run 2 family groups in Hampton and Mortlake Our Mental Health project has assisted 85 families 18 volunteers have just completed our 36 th volunteer training course and will soon be paired with families This Easter we are planning a 20 th Anniversary family event which is being very kindly sponsored We have worked closely with Children s Centres in all localities This month we have received 11 referrals from Health Visitors HRH THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE VISITS HOME-START GREENWICH Home-Start Greenwich was in the news this month when they received a royal visitor.

This is great news, but we have a long way to go. DESIGNER SALE CLOTHING DONATIONS NEEDED Our next event will be the Designer Sale on Thursday 23 rd April at Richmond Athletic Association Members Bar, Richmond Athletic Ground, Kew, TW9 2SF between 1pm and 9pm. We are already receiving some wonderful donations of nearly new quality ladies clothes and accessories, but if you a planning a wardrobe de-clutter over the next couple of weeks, please consider donating your shopping mistakes or barely worn clothes to us. These will be given to local vulnerable families in need. RICHMOND HILL OPEN GARDENS We are delighted to announce that we will be one of the beneficiaries of the Richmond Hill Open Gardens day on Sunday 31st May. 12 beautiful gardens will be open to the public for the very first time from 11am 5pm with. BARNES FOOD FAIR Many thanks to the Barnes Food Fair, which will take place on Barnes Green on Saturday 19 th September. Home-Start Richmond has been chosen as one of the charities to be supported this year. More information about the Fair can be found at http://www.barnesfoodfair.com HARRODIAN QUIZ A huge thank you to the parents and staff at the Harrodian School who once again held a Quiz Night in aid of Home-Start Richmond. We will let you know in the next newsletter how much that they managed to raised and we are extremely grateful to them for all their support. CALMER, EASIER, HAPPIER PARENTING TALK King s House School Theatre was full on the 25 th February with parents listening to our brilliant speaker Noёl Janis Norton sharing tips for parenting children in a calmer, easier, happier way. The evening was a great success and in total the event
raised 1270. Many thanks to Noёl, King s House School and our online ticket providers Billetto, who kindly donated the booking fee. FUNDRAISING BALL On Friday 6 th November a Fundraising Ball will be held in support of Home-Start Richmond s 20 th Anniversary. We will be announcing further details in the near future, so make a note of the date and keep an eye out for updates. EASY FUNDRAISING If you are looking for a last minute Easter egg, check out the goodies from Thorntons, Hotel Chocolat and Cadbury Gifts Direct. They are offering up to 6% donation on goods bought via Easy Fundraising and the fact that you will be raising money for Home-Start Richmond should alleviate some of the guilt at eating all that chocolate! More details coming shortly. Home-Start Richmond trains volunteers to support local families with children under five. Volunteers visit families at home once a week and help them to manage issues such as post-natal depression, bereavement, family breakdown, isolation, disability, multiple birth, finance and housing.
