Medical Conditions Aggravated by Exposure Inhalation: Irritant. Will cause irritation of the respiratory system, dizziness, stupor, cramps, unconsciousness and possibly death. Ingestion: Toxic. Due to the methanol content of this product methanol is a poisonous narcotic which causes toxic effects compounded by repeated excessive exposures over several days. Causes nausea, cardiac depression, muscular inco-ordination, narcosis(unconsciousness), headache, visual disturbances due to effects on the optic nerve ranging from double vision to blindness. Initial symptoms may reoccur with increased severity following a latent period of 6 to 30 days. In non lethal cases of methanol poisoning recovery is slow and accompanied by symptoms of malaise and painful extremities. Partial or total blindness may persist or become permanent. Methanol - Pre-existing disorders may be aggravated by exposure to this material:- skin, lung (eg. asthma and similar), liver, kidney, central nervous system, pancreas, heart. Exposure to this material may aggravate conditions sensitive to low oxygen levels, such as chronic lung disease, coronary artery disease or anaemia s. See Toxicological Information Section 11 Additional Hazard Over exposure to this material has been shown to cause Identification Remarks permanent visual impairment. Methanol has caused birth defects in laboratory animals, when inhaled at extremely high concentrations. Section 4. If irritation persists seek medical attention. Launder clothing before reuse. Remove victim to fresh air. If there is difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention. Give two glasses of water. Do not induce vomiting. Lay victim on left side to prevent aspiration of any vomit. Seek immediate medical attention.
