JOIN US AT THE CLEVELAND CLINIC MULTI-DISCIPLINARY MASTER CLASS IN ENDOCARDITIS AND OTHER CARDIOVASCULAR INFECTIONS This is the first comprehensive multi-disciplinary symposium in the U.S. on management of infective endocarditis and other cardiovascular infections and their complications. All aspects of this serious disease will be covered from pathophysiology, virulence factors, diagnosis and medical and surgical management as well as management of complications, specifically cerebral complications caused by embolism. By Attending, You Will Be Able To: Summarize current knowledge of pathophysiology, histopathology, and pathogens of infective endocarditis. Critically appraise the guidelines on surgical treatment of infective endocarditis and interpret their implications for clinical practice. Present data on the epidemiology, risk factors, and diagnostic criteria of infective endocarditis. Describe strategies for the medical management of infective endocarditis, especially use of antimicrobials, and list the signs and symptoms that indicate a need for surgery. Present the pros and cons of surgery for infective endocarditis including mitral valve repair, prosthesis evaluation, and procedures for advance disease. Apply strategies for treating neurologic complications associated with infective endocarditis. Identify the prevalence, diagnosis, management, and prevention of cardiac rhythm device infections. Describe the decision-making approach to the management of aortic infections, infections of ventricular assist devices, and sternal wound infections. Debate issues associated with surgically treating all patients with prosthetic valve infections. Define the impact of the growing opioid crisis on the incidence of endocarditis. Who Should Attend Infectious disease specialists, cardiologists, and cardiac surgeons along with general practitioners, internists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons, nurses, physician assistants, and other allied health professionals who care for patients with these infections, take care of manifestations of complications, and encounter patients before the cardiac infection has been diagnosed.
