6 LEARNING OBJECTIVES By participating in this continuing medical education program, attendees will be better able to: Assess current recommendations and therapies for the treatment of dyslipidemia, including its management in statin-intolerant patients Review the latest evidence and guideline recommendations on valvular heart disease Apply recent evidence and guideline recommendations for syncope Relate how imaging modalities contribute to risk stratifying patients for coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular diseases Understand the latest advances in interventional cardiology, including the use of dual antiplatelet therapy and anticoagulation Discuss the latest recommendations on aortic valve replacement, including new techniques for valve repair and replacement with surgical and transcatheter aortic valve replacement Apply the latest data and recommendations for hemodynamic monitoring and control pre-, peri-, and post-intervention Discuss contemporary catheter ablation strategies for the treatment of atrial fibrillation Assess the clinical experience and potential of non-vka oral anticoagulants (NOACs) and left atrial appendage occlusion devices to manage thromboembolic risk associated with atrial fibrillation Describe the evolving landscape for monitoring and treatment of atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias that includes remote monitoring capabilities and advances in electrophysiology devices Explain contemporary medical management of heart failure in a clinic, based on guideline recommendations and clinical experience Explain why the field of cardio-oncology has assumed greater importance, and what could be done to avoid cardio-toxicity with oncology therapy Describe the major changes taking place in the U.S. healthcare environment, with a focus on its impact on population health overall and specifically on cardiovascular health ACCREDITATION STATEMENT The Valley Hospital is accredited by the Medical Society of New Jersey to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CREDIT DESIGNATION The Valley Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity. MAINTENANCE OF CERTIFICATION Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 7.5 MOC points [and patient safety MOC credit] in the American Board of Internal Medicine s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
