WEST KIDLINGTON NEWS This Month s Value: HAPPINESS Friday 18 th March FROM MR. SYMONDS It has been a busy but fun week at our school! Our Year 6 children set off on Tuesday for their residential visit at Liddington, which is just outside Swindon. I have visited them a couple of times this week and been very pleased to see so many happy smiling faces, all keen to make the most of their time at Liddington and enjoying each other s company. It was also great to see so many children determined to overcome challenges, supporting each other and celebrating each other s success. The sun was shining and everyone was happy! Parents Forum You will know that we promised to use the parent s forum to update you on what the school is doing to address the issues arising from the latest Ofsted report. Please be reminded that we will be holding three meetings on Monday March 21 st at 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.00pm. to let you know how we are progressing on key issues. These meetings have been arranged to tie in with end of term parent s evenings which are to be held on the same evening. The last set of parent s forum meetings were really well attended, so we hope to see as many of you as we can on Monday. Attendance Those of you who keep an eye on this issue will see that far from getting better our attendance is getting worse. We know there have been many cases of unwell children in the last couple of weeks which have affected our figures but please could we try and improve this figure next term by making sure children come to school regularly and on time. ATTENDANCE The attendance for the whole school this week is 91.01% BEST COLLEGE ATTENDANCE WILLOW = 91.82% BEECH = 91.31% MAPLE = 91.29% OAK = 89.45%

Teaching our children safety when travelling to and from school is of utmost importance to us all and helping our children learn skills to keep themselves safe is a key part of growing up. The school has invited Footsteps (part of the Fire and Rescue Service) to deliver a Parent and Child Road Safety Course for children in Foundation. This will be on Tuesday 22 nd March at 2.30 p.m. If you and your Foundation child would like to participate, please give your name and contact details to the office. Future sessions will be arranged for children in Year 1 and beyond after Easter. If anyone has any Hama beads or templates they no longer want, could you please bring them into the office for the Nurture Room. Thank you.

Note from Jo in the Kitchen Roast dinner on Wednesday 23 rd March will be an Easter special. Roast Chicken pieces in Gravy or Roast Vegetables Special Both served with Yorkshire Pudding and Roast Potatoes Bunny Ears (Carrots) Chicken Feed (Sweetcorn) Pudding: Chocolate Mini Egg Cakes Some BMW keys have been handed into the office which were found in the vicinity of West Kidlington School. Plus because we have no school on Friday 25 th March, Fish & Chips dinner will be served on Thursday 24 th March instead. Also I look forward to seeing you all on Monday 21 st March at the Parents Forum meetings where I will be serving cakes and biscuits.

Thank you to everyone that sent in responses to last week s question Big Q If you lived in a chocolate house, would you eat it and have no home, why? Solution of the week: Next week s Big Question: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Please put your ideas in your Big Question Year group box, or give them to your Learning Council representative!
