THE TCA PANHANDLE TRADITION Twitter/TexasChiroAssn Facebook/TexasChiropracticAssociation #TCAMidWinter17 #SaveTXChiro
PRESIDENT S WELCOME On behalf of the Texas Chiropractic Association, welcome to the 2017 Mid-Winter Conference. Even with TCA launching the Texas Chiropractic Legislative Conference (TCLC) earlier this month in Austin, the TCA Board of Directors still felt strongly about keeping Mid-Winter on the 2017 calendar. As a Perryton native, Mid-Winter is a Panhandle tradition and it s always been one of my favorite TCA events. I know you feel the same. TCA is excited about the next couple of days. We are thrilled to bring Dr. Steve Yeomans to Mid-Winter, but we re equally proud to offer the Integrative Stroke Symposium: Protect Your Patients and Your Practice. The death of model Katie May has grabbed headlines over the past year, and Dr. Jason Helton, a Lubbock DC, assembled an all-star panel to discuss the risks related to stroke. There was plenty of buzz about this program at TCLC, but Mid- Winter attendees are the lucky ones who get this coveted opportunity to listen and learn from the experts. Speaking of TCLC, we had close to 600 DCs, staff, students, faculty and patients who stormed the Capitol for chiropractic on TCA Legislative Day. Attendees participated in 140+ office visits with state legislators and staff. It was a watershed moment for our profession and I was very proud to see so many Texas DCs united in their support of TCA. Since TCLC, Team TCA has been working diligently to ensure that the 85th Texas Legislative Session is successful. In addition to finalizing sponsors for key bills, we continue to follow up with committee members and put in the long hours that are required to advance TCA s legislative agenda. So, you re probably asking what you can do to help? The first thing is to become a TCA member, if you re not already. Contribute what you can to TCA s Chiropractic Development Initiative (CDI) and/or the TCA Political Action Committee (TCA PAC). And, most importantly, be ready to act when TCA calls upon you. Want to get more involved? Visit the Registration Desk during Mid-Winter and talk to staff or call the TCA office at (512) 477-9292. Mid-Winter feels like homecoming for me and, as your TCA President, I am honored to be with you this weekend. Hope you have an incredible experience at Mid-Winter! Tyce Hergert, DC TCA President
