Tday they are unified nt nly by a cmmn past and supprt fr ur ryal family, but als by a sense f shared values. These are: Prmting demcracy and fair, free gvernments chsen by and ruled fr the peple. Human rights and fair laws. Equality Free Trade Wrld Peace Every fur years, sprtsmen and wmen frm the Cmmnwealth natins cme tgether t take part in The Cmmnwealth Games. The Cmmnwealth Games began as 'The British Empire Games' in Canada in 1930. It changed its name t 'The Cmmnwealth Games' in 1978. The 2002 games tk place in Manchester. In 2006 the games tk place in Melburne, Australia and the 2010 in Delhi, India. In 2014 the games will take place in Glasgw. The games celebrate nt nly sprting achievements, but als the differences between the cmpeting cuntries, and the sense f tgetherness that being part f a shared internatinal cmmunity brings. Hwever, there are peple wh argue that The Cmmnwealth Games are nw utdated and shuld be ended. They see them as "an utdated imperial relic" and "histrical claptrap".
