Meet Mabry age 5, acute lymphoblastic leukemia Five-year-old Mabry has a sunny smile and a chipper voice. In the summer of 2014, she couldn t shake an ear infection, and then she suddenly developed facial swelling. The pediatrician ran blood tests, and within hours, Mabry was a patient at St. Jude Children s Research Hospital. Mabry began treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a disease that had only a 4 percent survival rate before St. Jude opened in 1962. The survival rate for this type of leukemia at St. Jude is now 94 percent. My heart sets on that number, said Mabry s mom. That number means a lot to me. Mabry loves all things girly, including dressing up in princess costumes. TEAM UP for ST. JUDE stjude.org/teamup #TeamUp4StJude 901-572-6933
