Volume 39, #10 October, 2007 President s Message FROM THE TOP... The Club's picnic was a success with good food and good company. The Benson Unity Parade was enjoyable and chilly, but a hot meal afterwards made it all worthwhile! The Economy Tour was moved to October 14th, due to possible thunderstorms (?). The Redwing Pottery Museum Tour and Dinner in Lincoln, is October 27th. This is a Saturday away game for the Huskers, so the traffic to and from Lincoln should be enjoyable. Mark your calendars, October 13th, is our semi-annual hi-way clean up. Meet at Cubby's at 156th St and Hwy 36 at 10 AM. Thanks to all who worked the Classics car show. By all accounts and comments, the show was a total success. Last but not least, is our upcoming elections at our November meeting. I'm probably barking at the moon on this one, but as I have seen in the past, the same group of members end up rotating and serving in the same officer and board member positions. If you think something within the club is not right, then it's time for you to step up to the plate. Accept the responsibility of your membership and accept a nomination if and when called upon. Remember, your Club is only as good as you make it with your participation. David Every season is Food Bank Season but this time of year it is even more important. The summer food collection drives are over and the Holiday Season Food drives have not begun yet. There are still folks who need the support of the Food Bank to get by. Please remember to bring your non perishable donation to our regular monthly meeting so that it can be delivered to the Food Bank. Your support of our food collections for the Food Bank is very much appreciated by those who need help. 1

A Hugh THANK YOU to Tom Johnson for being our DJ for the show. We had a good turn out at our 2 nd Classics at the Crossing Show Mother Nature co-operated nicely, except that she was a tad bit windy at times. We collected almost 200 pounds of food and with the one of a kind picture donated and raffled off we totaled $105.00 cash for the Food Bank. Thank you to all of the car registrants and on lookers for their generosity. 4

2010 will be here before we know it! Plans are progressing on our Regional Meet. We need the involvement of all our members to come up with a creative theme and a logo to use on our literature, t-shirts, license plates, etc. How about spending a little time thinking about ideas? You can sketch out a logo, if you want, or just write up some ideas that we can give to an artist to draw. Bring your ideas and/or sketches to the meeting in October or November or send or e- mail to Janet Graves (jgraves@creighton.edu) by November 15. Do you need a Meadowlark vest? We have good news. We have just purchased a new bolt of the vest material. Each vest takes about 1 to 1 ½ yards and a yard of material costs $5. We will bring it to the meeting. We have some paper patterns to use, if you want. Or, if you are looking for someone to make a vest for you, we even have our own tailor shop within the club. Talk to Verl and Shizuko Chase about making your vest and/or adding the embroidered logo. See their ad on our ad page. 2008 Model A Calendars $15 each If you have not purchased your 2008 Model A Calendar yet, please sign up at the meeting. We will be doing a major printing soon, and we need an idea how many we need. They make good Christmas presents or buy one for yourself! If you don t attend the meeting, contact Janet Graves to order your calendars (jgraves@creighton.edu, 453-7166).

I received this article from one of our members we thought it would be nice to share it with everyone. This is part one. It was printed in the AAA Living magazine Sept/Oct 2007 issue.
