Annual Breast Cancer Conference Presented by Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Hilton Garden Inn Dallas-Allen 705 Central Expressway South Allen, TX 75013 Saturday, April 18, 2015 8 a.m. to Noon www.texashealth.org/cme

Conference Description Primary care physicians have an enormous role in cancer screening. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, women who generally only visit the emergency room when there is a problem will have improved access to care. This population will now have routine physician visits. Many of these women screened will be diagnosed with cancer at a higher stage. This conference has been designed to educate medical professionals on recommended screening guidelines and surveillance for breast and cervical cancer. Topics presented in this conference will enhance the participants information base, improve clinical capabilities and increase therapeutic options. Conference Objectives Review BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 and employ the NCCN (National Comprehensive Cancer Network) for genetic testing. Explain and discuss the execution of a breast biopsy. Evaluate the risk factors for developing breast cancer and chemoprevention. Assess screening recommendations for average-risk and high-risk patients. Discuss the protocol for diagnostic imaging in a patient with an abnormal screening mammogram or palpable complaint. Outline current surgical treatment recommendations for cervical cancer. Review and discuss treatment recommendations in pregnant women with cervical cancer. Illustrate what is considered an abnormal pap smear. Examine the decision pathways one should take to follow up on an abnormal pap smear. Discuss risk factors for human papillomavirus (HPV) and categorize the patients most appropriate to receive the vaccine. Acknowledgements A complete listing of all financial support will available in the conference syllabus.
