CATHETERIZATION TRAINER ON A STAND Parts identification: Clamp Prostate velcro strap (male genitalia only) Genitalia stand male female Urethra channel Bladder tubing and luer locks Female genitalia Male genitalia (includes removable foreskin) FAST-fluid management system: Upper tubing Collection bottle Lower tubing FAST-fluid tower Pulse bulb (not applicable with product) Lower tubing clamp Upper tubing clamp 2 Syringe

Bladder and genitalia assembly instructions: Steps 1-3 are used for cleaning and reassembly. Jump to step four for first time use. 1. Detach luer on bladder tubing. 2. Insert bladder into the urethra channel until the black cap is resting on the flat surface. Note: Tubing needs to face the top of the genitalia to prevent leakage. 3. Slide clamp apart and place around urethra channel about one half-inch down from base and close clamp. 4. Insert prepared bladder and genitalia into stand opening. 5. Pull genitalia flange securely from back of stand. Work around genitalia starting with the top and work down. Note: Check around flange to ensure that it is securely in place around stand. 6. Rest bladder on back of stand. Note: To simulate enlarged prostrate on the male genitalia, place the black Velcro prostrate band around the urethra channel and secure firmly. Assembly instructions continued on next page > 3

CATHETERIZATION TRAINER ON A STAND Assembly instructions: 1. Assemble the FAST-fluid tower by sliding the two base pieces together. 2. Secure by threading the small black rubber plug through the holes that form a circle. 3. Close clamps on upper tubing, lower tubing and pulse bulb tubing. 4. Prepare fluid for collection bottle with distilled water or saline. Note: Fluid can be tinted with food coloring to represent urine. This will be used to prime tubing and during the catheterization process. 5. Remove cap on the collection bottle. Fill collection bottle half to three-quarters full with fluid, making sure not to fill past the upper tubing. Tighten cap on the collection bottle. 6. Set the filled collection bottle onto the FAST-fluid tower. Note: The height of the tower was designed to provide realistic flashback in the catheterization trainer. Elevating the bottle to this level will increase the fluid pressure and assist in providing the flashback. 4

Set-up instructions: 1. Attach each luer lock connector on the upper and lower tubing (from the collection bottle) to the connectors on the bladder tubing. Set-up instructions continued on next page > 5

CATHETERIZATION TRAINER ON A STAND Set-up instructions (continued): 2. Loosen the cap on the collection bottle three-quarter of a turn to prevent air lock. 3. Open the clamp on the upper tubing. 4. Open the clamp found on the lower tubing to prime and to purge most of the air from tubing. Note: It can take up to 30 seconds for the air to purge from the tubing. Dribbling of fluid may occur. 5. The bladder is now full. To stop urine flow, close clamp on lower tubing. Note: Open clamp to refill bladder. Leave clamp open for continuous flow with indwelling catheter and drainage bag. 6

Cleaning and storage instructions: For best results, perform the following instructions at a sink. 1. Close clamps on upper and lower tubing coming from the collection bottle. 2. Separate bladder from genitalia by removing clamp and pulling bladder away. 3. Keeping tubes above the bladder, disconnect them from the collection bottle. 4. Place inverted bladder (tubes pointed down) into a sink or reservoir. Hold one tube above the bladder and drain fluid until mostly empty. 5. Place both tubes back into the sink or reservoir to completely drain the bladder. Note: This works best if the bladder is held high enough for the tubes to hang straight down to avoid kinks. Note: If the fluid used was tinted, use the syringe to flush with clean water. A. Fill the syringe with clean water. B. Stand the bladder upright (black cap with hole is pointing up). C. Connect the syringe to the tubing and inject until full. D. Repeat steps four and five to drain the fluid. E. Repeat steps A to D as needed. 6. Empty collection bottle, remove cap and rinse with water. 7. Wipe the exterior of the catheterization trainer, genitalia and bladder with warm water. Pat dry with a clean cloth. Allow all parts to dry overnight. 8. Follow assembly instructions on page 3. 9. Store trainer in a dry warm place out of direct sunlight. Additional care tips: 1. Genitalia can be removed from stand. 2. Iodine swabs in the cath kits are not intended to be used and may cause staining. 7
