Term 2 is fast approaching and May is one of the busiest times for our PA, with several important events like the Mother s Day Stall and Breakfast. Please see further below for detailed information on upcoming events. Regards, Noura.

Up-coming Events - Term 1 End-of-term Sausage Sizzle There will be a sausage sizzle for the last day of term. Any volunteers for cooking or serving should contact their classroom co-ordinator. Up-coming Events - Term 2 Mothers Day Stall Mother s Day Stall is held on Monday 8 th and Tuesday 9 th of May, please remember to give some spare change to your children so that they can purchase that special gift for their mum! The proceeds of the stall sales enable us to pay for the breakfast. Mothers' Day Breakfast Mother s Day Breakfast will be held on Friday 12 May from 7am. This year the event will be coordinated by a committee led by Athena Impala and Christina Conforti. A form will be sent out early in Term 2. More Dad helpers required please! On the form is also a return section for Dads to assist on the morning. We need your help to cook the BBQ, serve breakfast, clean tables and do dishes (but remember, mums return the favour in September for Fathers Day). We are still looking for more volunteers to assist with organising the breakfast, please contact pa@shoakleigh.catholic.edu.au if you are able to assist in any way. There will be raffle tickets available for purchase on the day for some beautiful gifts. This is a wonderful tradition at our school and the kids love having a special breakfast with their Mum and their school friends which makes it even more exciting for them. PA Trivia Night A new event on the PA calendar for 2017! This will take place on Saturday 20 May 2017. We would love to hear from anyone with experience in organising a trivia night, or similar. Otherwise put your thinking caps on, book a babysitter and come along for a fun night.

Recent Events Pancake Tuesday 28 February 2017 We had a great day on Shrove Tuesday serving delicious pancakes to all the kids. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the maple syrup and lemon/sugar toppings. Thanks to our army of parent helpers who made over 400 pancakes which disappeared very quickly. We would especially like to thank Jenny Matthews for coordinating this event and Priscilla Hansen for making the pancake mix. There were too many helpers to name so a big thanks to all of them too. Mother and Daughter Camp 4 & 5 March 2017 The Mother and Daughter camp this year was held at the YMCA Lady Northcote Recreation Camp and provided a fun and adventure filled time for all the mothers and daughters who attended. The weather was beautiful, allowing all the girls to enjoy jumping into the refreshing pool for a cool down. The activities were Giant Swing (a HUGE hit with all the girls, and some of the Mums too), Canoeing, Mountain Bikes, Orienteering, Yabbying and more! We finished off on Sunday afternoon with the Amazing Race Challenge with the girls surprising us with the energy they still had for running around after 2 days of non-stop activity.

On Saturday evening we held 2 challenges: Build the tallest tower using only newspaper and masking tape; and build the tallest tower using only marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti. The Mums competitive sides kicked in and we saw some very impressive structures! We followed this up with a night walk to try and spot some of the local wildlife. A huge thank you to the event organisers: Klava Funtusoff and Helen Deayton. We would also like to thank these parents for being Group Leaders: Michelle Gardiner, Sarah Boukouras, Cecilia Campisi, Joyce Peacock, Denise Dimokranitis and Lisa Matusewic.

Subway Lunch 14 March 2017 Today our children were excited when the Subway Box with their lunches arrived in their classrooms... Their smiles and quiet cheering was well received... A tradition Sacred Heart has maintained for many years continues each term... Today 256 Subways were ordered by our children with a small profit of over $100.00 made. My name is Lisa Kenny and our daughter Lauren is in 5/6 EP. I look forward to managing the Subway Project for 2017 and 2018. A big thank you to Bianca (PA & Mum), Carmel (School Office) & Libby (Subway Manager) who guided me through my first attempt. Looking forward to Subway Term 2 on the 13th June 2017.
