PPR 2. Current situation PPR In July of 2007, PPR was introduced into Ritu county in Tibet from overseas, and this was the first PPR case in China. With the joint efforts of MOA and the local government, the outbreak was controlled and eliminated immediately. In Nov. of 2013, PPR was introduced into Xinjiang autonomous region from overseas, and the outbreaks effected many provinces. The outbreaks with rapid spreading, wide scope and high risk posed serious threat to the animal disease, with 274 infected points in 22 provinces in 2014 and 17 infected points in 8 provinces in 2015. by now, PPR outbreaks from 2013-2015 have been controlled with blockade of all infected areas being left. Since 2016, 2 outbreaks have been found, and been handled, and are being assessed now.

PPR in China (Jan 2015 to Dec 2015) PPR

2. Current situation on ASF ASF No ASF has occurred in China until now.

3. National Control Plan for priority TADs In May of 2012, the State Counsel issued Plan on Medium and Long Term Animal Disease Prevention and Control (2012-2020), proposing objects, strategies, and measures for TADs.

3. National Control Plan for priority TADs Strategy on control of exotic animal disease risk Enhance the safety concepts on animal disease control in the borders, intensify the risk management of animal disease which spread overseas and are exotic to China, and set safety barriers for animal disease control at the borders. Promote animal disease surveillance system and emergency response mechanism at the borders. Promote systems on the management of risk assessment, quarantine and approval, pre-inspection at abroad, enterprise registration and enroll Promote traceability for animal and animal products for importation,

3. National Control Plan for priority TADs In December of 2015, MOA issued Eradication Plan of PPR in China, striving for reaching the standard of disease free without vaccination by 2020.

3. National Control Plan for priority TADs In November of 2015, the MOA issued Technical Regulations on ASF Control, stipulating prevention and control measures such as diagnosis, disease reporting, and confirmation, outbreak handling and prevention.

4. Capacity to control priority TADs What are the capacities needed to control priority TADs? risk prevention, diagnosis and recognition, emergency response. Assess your current capacities to control these priority TADs (How would you assess each of these capacities in your country? [Level 1-5 with 5 as the highest]) we have made great efforts on improving these three capacity, but we still face some risks.

4. Capacity to control priority TADs At northeast and northwest borders, set fences and barbed wire.

4. Capacity to control priority TADs At the southeast borders, enhance inspection and establish fixed surveillance and inspection stations.

4. Capacity to control priority TADs Improve the capacity of diagnosis and recognition of TADs by training veterinarians at all levels.

4. Capacity to control priority TADs Simulation exercise

4. Capacity to control priority TADs

5. Future activities for TADs control What technical components for TADs control should East Asia focus on? The most challenges are encountered in TADs control in China: 1.Live animal smuggling blocking up(sharing information timely, establishing isolation zone and equivalent zone) 2.Wild animal migration monitoring the virus carrying status (professional staff training, animal disease geographical information technologies and rapid diagnostic technologies)

5. Future activities for TADs control Do death autopsy of wild to understand the virus carrying status of migratory birds.

5. Future activities for TADs control Reduce the risks of TADs spreading by establishing animal disease control zones in the border areas as to decrease the animal smuggling.

5. Future activities for TADs control Control TADs jointly by enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, information sharing of TADs information and technologies.
