Weight Loss Challenge Format Teams [up to 5 members] can be formed to compete in the Iron Viking of the North Weight Loss Challenge. These teams can be created in any environment i.e.: work, stay-at-home moms/dads, your gym, volunteer groups, and places of business Teams will be competing to win in one of two categories: (1) Total Percentage of Weight Lost (2) Total Inches Lost *see below for definitions of each* Winning Teams will be announced on stage and presented their prizes on May 11, 2013 at the evening show of the Iron Viking of the North Bodybuilding Championships, team members must be present to receive prizes Weight Loss Challenge Guidelines Weight loss should be the result of healthier eating and exercise habits. Participants are on the honor system and should participate in a healthy and fair manner. Prohibited: Diet pills (herbal or prescription appetite suppressants, metabolism enhancers, etc.) Water pills (diuretics) unless prescribed for a medical condition such as high blood pressure Laxatives and colonics Suggested Criteria for Winning in one of the two categories are as follows: 1. Total Percentage of Weight Lost: Winners are determined by percentage of total weight loss of all team members. This is a fairer comparison than total pounds lost since heavier persons can safely lose weight more rapidly. A healthy rate of loss is 1% of beginning weight per week. So, a person weighing 280 pounds can lose 2-3 pounds per week while a person weighing 180 pounds would be expected to lose no more than 1-2 pounds per week. Example calculation: 1. Beginning weight ending weight = pounds lost 2. (Pounds lost beginning weight) X 100 = percent weight lost 2. Total Inches Lost: Winners are determined by total inches lost for all team members. Measurement totals will be from 10 sites on the body. This allows persons that gain muscle and still lose body fat to have a chance to succeed at the competition. Example calculation: 1. Initial Total of inches of all 10 sites (from first day) 2. Subtract final number of total inches (last day) from initial measurements=total inches lost ~ 2 ~
