APRIL 2016 THE BEST PLACE ANYPLACE Letter from the President! From the Desk of Mary Lichtenwald: Nancy Anderson has been working hard on the Easter Egg Hunt which is our next big project. The fundraiser which was held at McDonald's on Tuesday, Mar. 8th, was quite successful. Jon Harris has been very good to the children's projects. The check was presented to her at our meeting this week. We owe thanks to the group at Friendship Park Community Center for filling all of the eggs which will be placed in the park for the children. And thanks also to the Center itself, for allowing the boxes of toys to be stored there until the day of the hunt. We can always use more help on that day. There will be coffee, orange juice and donuts available for a donation at the Center Saturday morning after 9:00 AM. This is busy month for us. The Parade Committee is working on details. They are still in need of donations. And I am sure the Committee is also looking for volunteers - it takes a lot of people to put on this parade. The judges of The Scholarship Foundation has finished evaluating the applicants and have now turned in their books. The Presidents of the Foundation will be tallying the results and announcements will be made soon. The Annual Banquet will be the 20th of April and we will get to meet the winners for this year. Please plan on attending. I am not sure if the membership is aware of the fact PPBA does not have the availability of some of our former meeting places. Some are now charging rent for their facilities and we simply cannot afford to pay the rent. We need a facility which will accommodate approximately 40-45 people at any given time. If you have any ideas, please call me. If you know someone who is not getting their newsletter, or if you want your newsletter snail mailed, please contact either me at 419-472-6529 (maryliz630@aol.com) or Danielle O'Rourke at 419-309-9743 (danielle.orourke@ymail.com). We appreciate your opinions and input, please feel free to contact me with any questions. We look forward to seeing you at our meetings. Mary Lichtenwald, President

2 Easter Egg Hunt! A fundraiser was held at Point Place McDonald's for the PPBA Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday, March 8. We did very well. McDonald's donated 15% of all sales during a 2 hour period. $200 was raised along with $62 donated by customers. Thank You to all who came out to support the fundraiser. Special thank You to owner John Harris, Manager Candy Maenle and all the McDonald's staff. Managers Candy Maenle & Kim Gerlica presented PPBA Egg Hunt Chairman Nancy Anderson with check for $200 from McDonald's fundraiser, Special Thanks to Nancy Anderson and Joyce Ejhinger for putting together another successful Easter Egg Hunt! 2016 Scholarship Dinner! The Point Place Business Association's Scholarship Foundation will be awarding 5 $1000 Scholarships on Wednesday, April 20. The winners and their parents will be the guests of the PPBA Scholarship Foundation at our monthly dinner meeting at Ottawa River Yacht Club on 5844 Edgewater Dr. Social Hour starts at 6:00 PM with dinner at 6:30 PM catered by Kelly's Catering. The cost of the meal is free for members and $10.00 for guests and honorary members. There will be no raffle this month. If you would like to attend you need to make a reservation by Monday, April 11 by registering online at ppba.memberlodge.com, or by contacting either Connie Durand at 419-344-7873 (conniedurand867@yahoo.com) or Mary Lichtenwald at maryliz630@aol.com or 419-472-6529.
