Cancer Care Ministry & Your Church Rev. Percy McCray & HEALTH, HOPE INSPIRATION WITH REV PERCY MCCRAY

Cancer Care Ministry and the church go back as far as Jesus words in Matthew 25:36... I was sick and you took care of Me. Among many other types of ministry that Jesus gave as examples to those who believe, caring for the least of these, My brethren who are sick has always been a charge for the church. When it comes to cancer, those ministering to the sick must be informed by the unique challenges that cancer brings. I pray this resource will help you and your church take the next step toward launching a Cancer Care Ministry.

What Is a Church-Based Cancer Care Ministry? In short, this is a group of trained, equipped and empowered church leaders and lay ministers who are able to connect with and help meet the practical and spiritual needs of those impacted by cancer. But a church-based Cancer Care Ministry is so much more than that. It is a beacon of hope for those who are being tossed by the waves of fear and uncertainty. It is a refuge where those who are weary can come and find comfort and support without being judged or misunderstood. It is an expression of the hands and heart of Jesus working through those who are willing to love on His behalf.

How Do You Start a Cancer Care Ministry? The first step is to join the Our Journey of Hope Ministry Leaders Network by signing up at no cost at www.ourjourneyofhope.com. This will inform you of what is happening in Cancer Care Ministry including training dates, resources and support. The second and most important step is to attend an Our Journey of Hope Cancer Care Leadership Training seminar. This free two-day training will equip and empower you to launch a ministry in your own church. It will also provide you with the curriculum, resources and connections you need to train others. You can learn more by visiting www.ourjourneyofhope.com.

How Does a Cancer Care Ministry Function? Cancer Care Ministry can work within the leadership of any local church. When a leader attends a Cancer Care Leadership Training seminar they will be certified and equipped with the tools and strategy to begin a ministry. A certified cancer care ministry leader is equipped with curriculum and resources to identify members of the church and empower them to help meet the needs of cancer patients and caregivers. Those with a heart for this ministry function as a team and work together, learn together and grow together. This team can then expand or multiply to meet the great needs facing cancer patients.

I pray God s blessing on you and your church as you step out to fulfill the scriptural charge to care for, minister to, and bear the burdens of those impacted by cancer. - Rev. Percy McCray Jr.

About Reverend Percy McCray Rev. Percy McCray Jr. has spent more than 20 years ministering to cancer patients and their caregivers at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). Health, Hope & Inspiration is a weekly podcast, sponsored by Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), designed to help people find answers to questions about cancer, cancer prevention and overall healthy living. One of the greatest gifts a person can enjoy is good health. A well-rounded lifestyle is the product of physical, emotional and spiritual health. These three things are interdependent, and that is the message of Health, Hope & Inspiration, as well as the basis of the integrative approach at CTCA.
