The A.N.D.F.H.G. News sheet. Issue 20 July 2010. YOUR COMMITTEE WORKING FOR YOU President: Vice President: Secretary: Treasurer / Membership: Publications Editor: Fundraising Officer: Publicity Officer: Gawler Representative: Associated Members. Legacy Users Convenors: Family Tree Maker. Peter Applebee Ivan Randall Margaret Flaiban Helen Stein Colin Withall Tammy Martin Barb Such Bev Burke Shirley Bulley & Ian Cowley. Michael Smith. This Months News from the Editor. Welcome to this month s newssheet. The month of July is an important month on the ANDFHG calendar, with the Annual General Meeting being convened on the 15th, and the important decision by all members, regarding who will be responsible for the management of our group next year. Details regarding the manner in which you can cast your nomination preferences, were sent out recently to all members, I urge every member to participate in the matter of selecting the next Management Committee. The General Meeting is your chance to voice any concerns, or suggestions you may have regarding the Group s future, remember that ANDFHG is a group, and not the sole province of a select few. So please show your interest by attending the AGM, or at the very least, return your nomination forms as soon as possible. Our last Speaker s night held on June 17, proved to be very popular and was one of the most attended nights this year. Peter Applebee gave a presentation of Online Researching, and ably demonstrated the use of the research tools found on our mother website www.ozgenonline.com. However, if you have never visited the site, I highly recommend that you do so, and have a good browse through the tools and links available. For those that may not be aware, the Website is a prize-winning site, and has received accolades from all avenues of Genealogy, around the world. We should like to pay tribute to the many unsung heroes of ANDFHG. Particularly to Margaret Flaiban and Ivan Randall, who are always available to help others with their research. These two people attend our research rooms every Thursday, come hail or fair weather, and then again on the Saturdays that our clubrooms are open. Recently Dave Patterson has been rendering them much valued assistance on Thursdays,. Ivan is also very active as the presenter and group leader, in demonstrating the Legacy Family History Program, to the Legacy Users Group. Further, we extend acknowledgement of the following people. In particular, to Gill Swanson, who voluntarily carried out the collating and indexing of our Library. Ann Mellon for her many donations to the Library, now named in her honour. Mary O Brien and Shirley Bulley, who between them have undertaken the monumental task of indexing the Microfilm library of old Adelaide newspapers. To Ruth Hunt, Margaret Flaiban, Shirley Bulley, and the many other willing helping hands, who supply supper on speaker nights, our grateful thanks. To Tammy Martin and Helen Stein who organised the Cemetery Walking Tours catering, as well as performing other valuable duties, mostly performed behind the scenes. Finally, to all the many others who unselfishly contribute to the camaraderie of the group, to these we extend gratitude, your involvement is noted. 1
